Maybe but let's not act like GR3 is some kind of value worth clogging a trade over

Exactly, which is why if Cleveland said they wanted him (or Dieng) I'd tell them that's not gonna happen and we'd continue talks from there. Young assets should not be leaving MIN for any reason in a Love trade.

Jon Krawczynski @APkrawczynski
After talking w/ Wolves, can say definitively Gorgui Dieng not on the table in any trade talks. KMartin name hasn't come up yet, either

Jon Krawczynski @APkrawczynski
On Martin, meaning in any talks with Cleveland. Obviously, his name came up earlier in summer with GSW.

Big difference between GR3 and Dieng though

Philly has like 150 bucks on the payroll, so The Wolves should be able to dump anyone they want over there.

Deal gets done today. Calling it

Not really. Dieng's more proven, but a young asset is still a young asset, especially considering GRIII's just 20 years old.

Anyone wanna look on hoops hype and see what non-guaranteed contracts are out there? Internet is slow here. Lol

I still don't get moving Martin but I've also got the idea in my head that if Flip deals Love he has some other move or moves he can make.

Chris Sheridan

If Flip Saunders can tell Wolves fans that he turned K.Love into four No. 1 picks, he will look like winner.

I agree with Alex on the tendency to overvalue our own players. I am absolutely certain Flip won't include Shabazz in any Love deal. Everyone else, however, other than Rubio, Dieng and LaVine are candidates for inclusion in an outgoing package. There are a number of possibilities for Cleveland deals, but based on the most recent reports, here are what I see as the possibilities without a 3rd team involved:

DEALS WITHOUT 30-DAY DELAY:

1. The only realistic deal the two sides could do right now without Wiggins signing would be Love or Love and GRIII for Wiggins, Bennett, Thompson and Felix (including one or more future draft picks as well). The Wolves would then buy out Felix's small 1-year deal at $880,000. To clear roster space for all three of the remaining incoming players, the Wolves would need to buy out a current roster player and the most likely candidate would be Shved. If the Wolves did not include GRIII in the deal with Cleveland, the Wolves would not be able to sign him unless they either bought out another current roster player or traded for a nonguarateed contract and then waived the incoming player.

30-DAY DELAY DEALS (CONTINGENT ON WIGGINS SIGNING WITH CLEVELAND)

All the remaining realistic deal possiblities appear to be premised on Wiggins first signing his rookie deal with Cleveland, after which the two sides would have to wait 30 days before consumating the deal. Here are what I see as the most likely possibilities (note that Shved or someone else would have to be released under any of the scenarios below):

1. Wiggins, Thompson, Bennett and two future first round picks (including the Miami pick) for Love, GRIII and Corey Brewer. (This would be my preferred deal. I also think this is pretty close to the the deal that will actually happen. As I've said before, keeping Thompson makes little sense for Cleveland or Thompson. Further, Thompson would fill the Wolves void at PF).

2. Same as #1, but Budinger instead of Brewer. (Not as likely from Wolves standpoint because of Wolves' need for 3-point shooters)

3. Same as #1, but with JJ instead of Brewer. (I suspect Cleveland would like this, but I don't think Flip will give up an expiring contract. Flip probably wants to use this opportunity to clear some space for next year)

4. Wiggins, Bennett, and Waiters for Love, and GRIII

5. Wiggins, Bennett, Waiters and Felix for Love, GRIII and Brewer, Budinger or JJ along with one or more future picks (felix would be bought out at $880,000)

Looking at these alternatives, you can see why there is probably some merit to the reports that the two sides are trying to bring in a third team. The problem is that the Wolves have a full roster, leaving no room for more incoming than outgoing even though any Love trade is likely to involve more incoming players. Hence the need for a 3rd team to take one of the outgoing Cleveland players. Yet, it's possible that Flip has other deals lined up and ready to execute depending on what he ends up doing with Cleveland.

It's my hope that the hold-up, if any, centers on Flip pushing to include either Thompson or Waiters along with Wiggins and Bennett.

6. Wiggins, Bennett, Thompson and Waiters for Love, GRIII, and Martin.

I hear what your saying, Cam, and respect your opinion. But I have more hope for Bennett than GRIII. I don't think last season was indicative of what we'll see from Bennett going forward. Watching him in Summer League, looking at his Freshman college stats and looking at highlight footage of him in college makes me pretty excited about his potential. He's a fairly unique combination of size, shooting and ball-handling. Do I have misgivings aobut him? Absolutely. But now that he's lost a lot of weight and fixed his sleep issues, I see a lot of upside.
