Why are we fans?

I have no reason to support the Wolves. A born and bred Kiwi who saw KG play for the Dream Team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics got me on board. I also like the business side of the NBA, managing salary caps and marketing strategies to put bums on seats. I hate bandwagon fans.

MIN will always be my number one team. I also quietly support OKC due to Steven Adams (who I may add will be in the MIP debate this season). But if the two face off I would always support the TWolves and hope that Pek eats Adams alive (which he probably literary could).

I am an NBA fan who resides in Minny. I think the NBA is the most fun to follow, simply because a teams fortunes can change faster than say, the Vikes. A roster overhaul for an NFL team is 22 players. An NBA team, including the bench is what, 12 to 15?

I haven't followed hockey since I was a kid and the North Stars were in Bloomington. The Twins piss me off, they refusal to spend money is disgusting. I like the Wilfs (as owners).

This all begs a question, doesn't it Glen Taylor? How is it even possible to stink for as long as we have stunk?

Boy, I don't know Father. An NFL team can turn around pretty darn quickly these days. There is a fair bit of roster churn and rookies can have more of an impact right off the bat.

I grew up a Minnesota kid, joined the Marines at 17 and have spent the majority of my life away from home. Living in the southwest all of my friends over the years have been fans of different teams so it's actually a lot of fun with the back and forth banter. I honestly think had I remained in Minnesota I would likely have tuned out sports entirely as I don't envision sitting around drinking my sorrows aways with other Minnesota fans to be as fun as giving a hard time to fans of other teams. If any of that makes sense.

Being born in Southwest Minnesota and being raised by a minnesota sports fan father I didnt really have a choice. Its almost like religion, if its how u were brought up and its the only thing you know its prolly how youll end up living ur life.
The 87 and 91 Twins are definitely my foundation of sports faith. All it takes is a small miracle to keep ur faith in the teams u love most. The Vikings have done enough over the years to keep me "praying" that a championship is possible . Ill always believe in the sports trinity that is Vikes/Wolves/Twins . For every 98 season that makes you question ur faith, theres a 03-04 Wolves season that keeps hope alive! :)

I've always cheered for the "Minnesota" part as opposed to the "Wolves, Wild, Vikings, and Twins" parts. Even though they were my first love, when the North Stars left town I had no interest in supporting them as a Dallas team. Similarly, if one of the other teams left I wouldn't feel any type of attachment to them. For some reason I'm a lot more loyal to the cities, as opposed to the franchises. I get the most satisfaction from my market beating your market as opposed to the Vikings beating the Packers. To me that's what it's all about. Back when Pittsburgh was considered the city of champions due to the Steelers and Pirates holding simultaneous titles, I imagined it had to be the greatest source of pride possible in a city. I keep thinking our time is coming. Watch out for the Wild, they might be ready to bring a title home soon. And with Zimmer coaching the Vikings, I think a resurgence is right around the corner.

I watched the Wolves play against the Clippers / Lakers at Staples Center in 2012 (the night Michael Beasley and Derrick Williams both went off for 28 points lol), but am determined to watch them at the Target Center and have a good look around Minnesota. And this year may be the year as I have a one year working visa in Canada so intend to do some border hoping. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm keen on visiting Washington State, Oregon and Montana as well, as I am a bit of a nature lover. I will also be in Chicago on the 1st November to watch the NZ All Blacks play the USA Eagles (Rugby) at Soldier Field which will be a great spectacle. I highly recommend going to this if you are in the area. Witness the Haka and the greatest sports team on the planet.

NFL has the largest rosters but is the biggest turnaround sport by far. Its not absolutely ridiculous to think you have a shot at winning it all every year. Maybe your team will be the next Kurt Warner led Rams team or Seattle Seahawks led by Russell Wilson. That is a big reason the NFL is so popular. I think the point still stands that a player or 2 can absolutely change a franchise in the NBA more than the NFL and you rarely get those guys as undrafted dudes or late in the 2nd round. NFL you have guys that can come out of nowhere and become one of the best in their era like Tom Brady. Very different sports but still star driven in a way.
