It is the 24th. What is next?
So who will Flip try to trade next? Is Martin likely to be traded?
Re: It is the 24th. What is next?
I understand why people are down on Martin - poor defense and sub-par offensive efficiency. But his numbers are still nothing to sneeze at. He actually seems like a really good piece to start along side Wiggins. And it's not like we are overloaded at SG.
This could be our opening day roster as it stands right now. Barea is the one guy that stands to lose a lot of playing time, so I would not be surprised if he is moved. GR3 seems to be the odd guy out...

Turns out Christmas morning is a little anti-climactic when you pretty much already knew what you were getting! I wouldn't anticipate any major moves at this point outside of maybe moving JJ or Brew.

I like Martin and think he is a good player and brings value. In the end it will come down to how quickly the kids grow and need court time.

Martin is a SG version of David Lee brings you a lot of good stuff on the court terrible on defense (makes Love look good in this area) and is a lock to miss games. Martin makes less than half as much money and his contract is only 1 year longer. Not that anyone is dying to having David Lee but I'd love to have him for 7 million a year. After this year where Martin puts up another 20ppg season with only 2 years left on his contract I don't think we will have a hard time finding a taker if that's the direction that needs to go. He is a noice player to have next to Rubio and Wiggins and Pek. Lots of scoring wings suck at defense although Martin is worse than they are but he is also a better scorer than a chunk of them too. I think we can live with his poor defense for now when his offense will clearly be needed.

I don't think we can afford to lose any shooters at this point. We just lost a very good 3 point shooting 4 in Love and his outside shooting was not really replaced by Thad and Bennett. Wiggins is also going to struggle from 3 this year. I see him around 32-35%. Remember how bad we were from 3 the year Love missed most of the season? I think the odd man out trade wise should be Brewer. He's great for energy and effort, but the skill just isn't there. He can't shoot. He gambles on D. His transition offense just lost it's power source. He doesn't rebound. I think Wiggins can give us what Brewer gives us and more already. The problem with being this late in the game is that pretty much every team is set and there aren't many holes left around the league to fill.
Re: It is the 24th. What is next?
Don't write Brewer off. The Funkadelic was on this morning. The subject of Wiggins starting was brought up and Flip, of course, was non-committal. But in discussing the possibility Flip made reference that Wiggins could start with Brewer coming off the bench.
While this was only a hypothetical, it shows that Flip views Brewer in the rotation as a SF. Bud's name had also been brought up as someone, if healthy, who can hit the 3.

I think someone needs to be moved to open up playing time for Lavine. My first choice would be Bud.

How would people rank players they would like to see traded?
Budinger would be the guy I would like to see moved. I don't see that happening unless he shows he is healthy and can put up a stretch of good games. If all goes well he won't even have a shot to do that.
Martin has proven he can come off the bench and is a proven scorer in this league. I think he would be an easy guy for the kids to be with and learn from. He would be a low priority for me.
Brewer seems like the ultimate practice and energy guy for a young team. I think he will be as important for what he does in practice as much as for what he does on the court.
Not that he will or I would want him to be traded, but I think we see a different Rubio. I excited Rubio. He will be a great mentor for this team and we will see him playing with joy again this year.

I would love to see LaVine become the first PG/SG off the bench. I am not sure how well that would sit with Mo Williams or JJ, but that would be perfect thing for him next year. If summer league showed us anything is that he will be an instant upgrade or Shved and likely JJ.
