Kudos to Flip Thread

Post by Coolbreeze44 »

How is it that we were forced to trade one of the best players in the league, and yet I feel more optimistic about our future now? And that's not an exaggeration. I honestly have more hope for this franchise today than I did before last year started.

My favorite part of the press conference was when Flip said our goal is not to make the playoffs, but to contend for the top of the conference eventually. Exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks Flip.

There was a lot of trepidation regarding bringing back one of the founding members of the country club but barely over two years into his tenure I can say confidently that outside of the one year in which McHale brought in the alien and Spree I don't think the Wolves have shown as much competence from the front office, ever. Flip has made me a believe in his skills a POBO, now all he has to do is coach up the kids!

I'm 100% with you, cool. Teams just don't get this kind of return when a star forces a trade, and Flip (with an assist from LBJ) handled this like a pro. Let's get this season rolling!

This goes down as the #2 or #3 best trade in Wolves history (at this point).

#1: OJ Mayo for Kevin Love+Mike Miller (kudos McHale)
#2a: Randy Foye and Mike Miller for #5 (Ricky Rubio) (partial kudos to Kahn, although he botched the next pick by taking Flynn over the much more obvious pick, Curry.
#2b: Love+Mbah+Shved for Wiggins+Bennett+Young

It's kind of funny too... Kahn's signing Love to the 4 year deal with the 3 year opt out option is what landed us this third trade, which may have worked out better for us in the long-run as Love may have left anyway.

Yeah LST, we really for the first time in a long time had a little bit of good fortune on this. If any fan base ever deserved it, it's us. But a confluence of factors all combined to give us a return that actually could surpass what we gave up. This just doesn't happen when you trade a superstar. All this coupled with the excellent draft picks over the last two years and we are set up to have some fun.

As a critic of flips hiring as gm and his first year with us, I have to say that he has won me over in his 2nd off season here.

Major props to flip.

Loved his press conference, really made me optimistic about the teams future. I think he will be a coach the players really wanna play for, and I think he will bring a whole different culture to twolves basketball. Loved seeing that ALS Vine, good stuff!

Too early to judge since obviously not one of these guys have played a minute in a Wolves uniform yet. However, even I have to admit that I'm pretty impressed with how Flip and Milt handled this process. On paper, they got a pretty darn good return on Kevin Love. Now it's up to Flip the Coach along with his assistants to develop these guys and make the best use of their skills. We'll see.....
