Guaranteed Allen and Miller sign for vet min if LeBron goes to CLE
Irving Nelson?
Allen Vince Carter? Rip Hamilton?
LeBron Miller
Love Bennett
Varejao Anderson? O'Neal?

Plenty of guys who've never won a ring would take a min salary to win one.

Don't do it yet LeBron. Make 'em sweat a few more weeks. Chris Broussard hasn't slept in a week, make him wait longer...

Go ahead, Alex. Tell us how they can't afford it.

All they have to do is dump Jack or Bennett to open up a max slot for LeBron. Then trade for Love using equal salaries.

But they can't afford it... Okay.

So the trade you proposed has them losing Thompson, Waiters, and Wiggins. They'll also have to give up Jack and a 1st to get the cap room for Lebron.

So Love making 16? Lebron would make 20 mil as a max guy, and Irving will make 18.

54 mil right there.

Varejaro makes 9.

Cap is at 59 mil I think? So they are already over the cap there. So a lineup would look something like

Irving
Karasef?
Lebron
Love
Varejaro

With their only bench player being bennett. So they have the vet's minimum to fill out a bench? Whose left out there that would take that? Unless you think the big 3 plays 48 minutes a night

I think it's as unlikely as you do, but as far as getting those 3 together it's much easier capwise than you make it out to be because Irving will still be on his rookie contract ~7.5 million. They could get those 3 together and a few veteran signings on the books the first year and figure out the subsequent years as they come. It's just the matter of how much Gilbert is willing to dip into the luxury tax which I think he was willing to go into LeBron's first stint with Cleveland.

Well, this doesn't make much sense. http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Evan_Turner_among_Wolves_priorities_in_NBA_free_agency070914

Unless they have reason to believe they can or will be unloading some of those ~5 mill wing contracts. Then it would make some sense taking a 1 yr flyer on a young guy like Turner.

I don't consider a 25-year old with 4 years of NBA experience young anymore. He might be "young in life", as they say, but after 4 years of consistent mediocrity, it's hard to see any upside left.

And the last thing we need is another perimeter player that can't shoot. The fact it's a 1-year deal makes it a bit more palatable, but good lord, imagine having him, Rubio, and Brewer out on the perimeter. What an easy lineup to defend with literally no one that can space the floor.

I've always been confused by the MLE...so because we were under the luxury tax last year, the most we can offer a free agent using this exception is roughly 4 years, 5 million per? Why do under-the-cap teams have the smallest maximum salary per year in their exception? Finally, is the bi-annual exception essentially for veteran minimum level players??
