All the bizarre deals that are being handed out this year makes me reevaluate all the "bad contracts" Flip entered into last season. They are looking better and better every day. I'm not necessarily saying this in defense of Flip, because it's unlikely that he anticipated 12 months ago that so many GM's would lose their minds at the same time. But in retrospect, he looks awfully smart.

And with all the money being spent early in the free agency process, there may be some bargains in a week or two for the "leftovers", and some of those leftovers might be pretty good rotation players. Again, this may be more good fortune for Flip than brilliant management, because uncertainty around what he'll get back in a Love deal forces him to wait until he can really evaluate his needs. But a lot of circumstances may be working to Flip's benefit, and it makes him look more savvy.

Parson just got a 3year, 45 mil contract from the Mavs!! WTF? Like you guys mentioned....what the heck is going on with these "good, but not elite" players getting big time money?

Just wow on the Parsons contract. That is the price to do business with RFA's though. If Houston gets Bosh, they might have to let him go for that price. There was no way I thought Klay could command a max deal and I figured that he and Parsons would be in the same ballpark. With the way wings are getting paid, now I would be worried about paying Klay. Flip should probably just go all in on Wiggins at this point.

It makes players like Brewer, Barea, Budinger and Martin modestly worth it right now. I would trade two for the the output of Parsons, but not even close at that value of contract!

Im leaning towards lebron going back to the cavs. They just traded away jack and young assets like zeller, karasev and a future first to clear cap space. No way they do that without assurance that they will land lebron.

Time for flip to jump in and get wiggins from the cavs. Forget about tristan or waiters, if we get them good, if not its okay as long as we get wiggins here.

I agree LST. The Hayward deal is just unbelievable.

I've said this before about Budinger, but I think he is like a beaten down asset in a financial portfolio that should be held, not dumped. A healthy Budinger is really not much different than Gordon Hayward, but for nearly three times less money! Let's hope and pray he finally recovers from his various ailments and plays like he did for Houston a few years ago.

These deals is why it more important than ever to get value from your players on rookie contracts.
