Getting Love not only gets them past CHI in the East but makes them favorites to win the whole thing. Without getting Love they were 2 years away from getting past a healthy CHI let alone winning it all. LeBron - Irving - Love is one scary three headed monster. You could start Mark Madsen and Anthony Peeler next to them and they'd still probably win the whole thing. Another key to this being such a great trade for them is they have retained a solid back up big in Tristan Thompson and a starting caliber SG in Dion Waiters.

Wolves A -

Let faces it none of us were expecting this haul 2 months ago. As Cam said we were expecting a package of mediocre picks, Olynyk and vets from BOS as a good pay day. Instead we now have 2 consecutive 1st overall picks and a very good player in Thaddeus Young. Wiggins is going to be a superstar, mark my words. And the most scariest thing is he hasn't stopped growing and he is already 6' 8" with a 7' wingspan and is only 19 years old. I also think Anthony Bennett will develop into a decent starting PF in this league. And what better guy to help him than Thaddeus Young! Bravo Flip and Milt, they handled the whole situation perfectly.

Philly C

From their point of view Young was only going to be wearing a 76ers uniform for one more season before he inevitably opted out. Kind of the same situation as we were in with Love (except Thad is twice the professional as Love and never complained). The MIA pick will be late teens to early 20's which IMO isn't good enough for a top 12 PF in this league. They wanted LMAM as a mentor for fellow Cameroon Embiid which is fair enough and maybe a change of scenery is exactly what Alexey Shved needs to get out of his funk, although I struggle to understand why they preferred him to Barea. Just goes to show how little value Barea has in the the league. Philly are 2 years away from being 2 years away from competing and they know it. They've thrown in the towel before the seasons even begun. It's all very well having all these young prospects and picks, but every team needs vets and they have none worthy of mention now.

Side note:

If only we have drafted the Greek Freak instead of Bazz. Him and Wiggins would have formed a formidable wing combo for years to come!

3 reasons Philly would prefer Shved to Barea which makes this pretty simple.

Shved makes less money. Philly lieks that cap space and Shved gives them over a million more of that.

Shved is a young player with theoretical potential. Maybe they get some sort of steal in this deal. Unlikely yeah, but alot more potential than Barea except maybe trading him to a playoff team for a 2nd rounder or something.

JJ is a competitive SOB he doesn't have the standing in the league to control where he goes, but you can bet he would be pissed he got traded to the Siberia of basketball. Shved might be happy to get to play basketball and with basically no expectations.

Also lets not get greedy the Bucks need some hope too. =) I'd cheer for them more but I'm not a fan of Kidd the way he forced his way out out from the Nets and onto the Bucks.

Thanks for explaining that Monster. I guess taking back less salary is essential in their case. And if I were a GM I'd prefer Shved.

Looks like we may have to buyout Barea. No takers out there.

I think there are teams that would like to have Barea or at the very least have interest, but they don't have the cap space or the expiring contract to get the deal done. There is no reason to pay to get rid o him and it would be better for JJ to just get cut and he can choose where he wants to go or maybe he even waits things out and sign latter like some other guys have done the last couple years when a injury happens. He is a very quick player that can hit 3's he will end up on an NBA roster one way or another.

Too lazy to look through the thread...

But did anybody post cbssportsline.com grades?

Minnesota got an A+... as did Cleveland. Personally, I think it's one of the most "it makes sense for both teams" types of trades I've seen in a long time when one of the teams lacks much leverage.

Found this "nugget" on the Denver Post comparing the Carmelo vs. Love trade. Didn't realize they also gave up Billups too in that trade. 2 years later they finished 3rd in the West. But I think we all remember that, just wanted to refresh everyone's memory.

Nice! But weren't you the least bit curious about his favorite gatorade color?

They took the easy way out! Clearly Cool Blue is the best Gatorade flavor. Glacier Freeze is a close second.

Okay, I watched the youtube video, and I can only say that is ten minutes of my life I will never get back. Cam's question was the only worthwhile one, and Bennett ducked it! But as for the other questions...oy! Can you imagine the private conversation our four new guys had last night in their hotel rooms?

Wiggins: Wow, this has been a really cool day feeling all that love for us here in Mindianapolis...they must have really hated Kevin Love! But let me ask you guys something...did you find the day a little strange too? All that weird shit on a stick at the fair, and everyone wanting to know what kind of Gatorade we like best. Thad, is this what the NBA is like?

Thad: Never seen nothing like it. I mean, in Philly all we did was lose and get booed all the time...this is really different. If the fans don't care about winning but only what our favorite Gatorade is, this is going to be great...no pressure on us at all! We can just stay loose and have fun!

Zach: Anybody, you know, see that, you know , really old, you know, reporter walking around like he was, you know, lost? He must have been 110 or something.

Bennett: Yeah, that was Sid Hartman. He's a legend around here. I think he won some award for his coverage of the Civil War or something. I don't care about him. But I do want to find out who this Cam guy is who asked if I'm a SF or a PF. Sounded like he was disrespecting me. If anyone knows him, let me know. I'd like to have a little conversation with him. If I can pin Pek in arm wrestling, just think what I can do to Cam!

Thad: Well, it was a strange day, but all in all it was really good. I mean, just not having to be in Philly or Cleveland is good enough!

Zach: Fuck me (you know).
