I don't see the point in cutting him. He can either be a good teammate or your can send him home and it will make him look like an bad pickup when he looks for a contract next year. Does he really want to pull a Glen Taylor to his brand?

If we really needed a roster spot (for GR3)---releasing JJ (4M) is NOT the right solution. It's the cheapest guy on the roster that we should cut. This of course is Robbie (880K). JJ is going to want at least 3M to leave. Why let him go, when at the trade deadline----there's going to be teams that would want him just to shed some more salary. JJ's value will be at the deadline as an expiring contract. You don't buy those guys out!!!!! Stick him as the 15th man because regardless---he's going to want at least 3M to be bought out. So, we're going to pay the 3 anyway, whether he sits on the bench or be brought out----it's just another million that we have to eat should we keep him. With first round picks being worth 3M per (about the asking monetary price for them), it's worth keeping JJ here----hey it worked against us with Wesley!?!?

Robbie is just 880K----a drop in the bucket when it comes to players salary. And honestly, for how nice of guy he is----he's still probably NOT going to be picked up by anyone else.

It doesn't really matter who you cut in your scenario you are still paying JJ. They clearly value Hummel since they signed him. Cut JJ sign GR3 Glenn is paying what like 800k more than if JJ was still on the roster? I don't think that's going to hold them back. Lip seems to think JJ may not be as big of a priority to be moved as has been reported and has been wished for here. We might not know what happens till preseason. Sometimes small deals happen around then or maybe GR3 or some other dude impresses and JJ is dumped.

Maybe someones PG get hurt in preseason gets injured and they now want to trade for JJ.

I think Flip has a handle on him. I am not worried about him being a distraction.

Does delaying the release of JJ hurt GR3? I want GR3 to feel part of the team now and be able to practice with his future teammates. He was one of the top athletes taken in the draft along with Wiggins and LaVine, but he's far from a finished product and needs to be developed and coached to get the most out of his raw talent.

Keeping Barea hinders the development of LeVine. He has to go.

Not only that, where is he going to get minutes. Williams should get most of the backup time at the 1

We save no money by cutting JJ over Hummel, but JJ is more likely to have value around the league later in the year. If we want GR3, you dump Hummel knowing that JJ will likely get moved by the deadline. JJ also has value in case we suffer injuries. You also may get him to take a lower buyout if he is destined to remain on the bench. It really is an insignificant move either way, and only affecting Glen's pocket book.
