I actually think Young has leadership qualities. He can get vocal, but I agree, this is Rubio's team and Rubio should act like it. I believe he will.

I'll add that, on good teams with good team chemistry, secondary vet leaders like Thad Young and Mo Williams will step up, speak out and support Ricky when he asserts himself on the bench or in the locker room. Or they may assert themselves on occasion even when the main leader (Ricky) does not. A other reason why I like both the ThD Young deal and the Mo Williams signing.

+1 to both posts.
Re: Kudos to Flip Thread
I was happy when Flip was first appointed as GM and he has done well with both drafts and the Kevin Love saga.
The only blemishes on his resume is taking Bazz instead of the Greek Freak and signing Budinger to 3 years 15 mil. Hindsight is a funny thing and I personally would have taken Bazz ahead of Giannis, but how good would a Rubio - Wiggins - Antetokounmpo lineup be in two years time! In saying that I still think Bazz can develop in to a starter and his scoring and offensive rebounding off the bench will be well needed.

The timing just happened to be way off. The Wolves looked like the worst situation in the league, and probably scared Joreger off in the end. I would imagine, if the Griz situation happened now, he would be pumped to coach this team.
I don't want Flip to coach, just because it seems like he should be spending all his time being a GM. He's been pretty good at it so far
I've thought that too. I would think young coaches in particular would be really interested in this team right now.

Re: Kudos to Flip Thread
A couple quick thoughts...
I am now more excited about Flip as our coach because he has a group of guys HE wanted and can design his offense and defensive attack around them. Very exciting!
I did like Kevin Love but it became more and more clear the last couple years that he was NOT a championship #1 type player. We never even made it to the playoffs with him. I always felt he needed to be a #2 to a #1, which he will be to LBJ in the "land." I honestly felt he would be a better #3 on a team with defensive players, which is why I thought Houston would make sense with Harden and Howard. Maybe next time.
We have no guarantees that the new crop will ever succeed to the level we need them to be. HOWEVER, this was the BEST trade possible and Flip seemed to be the only guy in the room that knew what the ultimate plan was. Again, KUDOS! If they do not pan out, oh well, its not like this franchise hasnt experienced that before. I recently had a buddy blast the Wolves for choosing D-Will a couple years back. I blasted him back and said he was ABSOLUTELY the right pick at the time. It was a 2 player draft and we got screwed by a bust of a player. It happens. Kahn did mess up not choosing Curry.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Kudos to Flip Thread
Flip Saunders has taken the league's 2nd worst NBA franchise and convinced its fanbase that a Rebuild v.9.0 is the best way to go.
That's meant entirely as a compliment to Flip.
I'm arguably more beaten down by all the losing over the years than anybody else here. It's made me a cynic (or more accurately, a realist) when discussing the team on this forum and others.
But damn it... this time it "feels" different. I said all along that the best way for Flip and the Wolves to rebuild is to land the #1 pick in Wiggins. It's something new at least that the team has never had before. Until James went to Cleveland, there was no chance of it happening. Good timing. Good decision-making. Actual luck?
Maybe this time things will be different?
[Note: Damn them! I'm totally going to stay engaged through yet another 55-loss season. I'm such a chump.]

I've stayed optimistic but I've also become more realistic over the years as well. I'm still fairly easily drawn in but this rebuild feels different too. The top organizations are good but they had some luck like at the very least the Spurs had some luck getting Duncan but they are the model of building a franchise with other players the picked and developed. OKC got Durant and seem to be making good moves in the draft and developing those guys in to good or worthwhile players. The last time the Wolves rebuilt Ainge was looked at as a bit of a joke and he got lucky to be able to bring in a Big 3.
Without going into too much detail we know the circumstances to bring what might be the luck this franchise may never have had. To add to this the cupboard wasn't bare before these young guys arrived. Pek Rubio and even Martin plus a guy like Brewer means this team could be guys that can help this team be solid in the near future and some be guys for the real when it matters. Add that to some other young guys like Dieng and well there is some real hope. I'll be buying in for the NBA Broadband pass. I'm feeling like it may be a team like those teams of the KG Marbury Googs days but with a better ending and more young talent. Its hard to decide what young player I'm most excited to see. Yep we may be chumps.

I think I know what you mean with this sentence, but that is a real head scratcher. I had to get out my moron to English translation book.
Just teasing Monster. ;-)

After seeing your post...I'll admit that is pretty awfully written. Hopefully people do know what I was trying to say. In my defense I've been in the South a few days so... J/k :)
