Wolves/76ers- Home exhibition opener

Post by longstrangetrip [enjin:6600564] »

Wolves play the hapless, MCW-less 76ers tonight...Martin still out, Bennett likely in. First chance for the home crowd to see our new guys in action, and also to see Nerlens Noel. Alexei Shved will see a lot of minutes too...had a nice game Wednesday. Here's what I want to see tonight.

1) An impressive debut by AB. He has impressed everyone with his athleticism and shooting...let's hope he can do it with the bright lights on.

2) Another efficient game from Thad. His shot selection Tuesday was much better than it was last year in Philly...if he continues to play within himself, he can have a very effective season.

3) Continued development from Wiggins. Drew surprised me in his first game, and with his jaw-dropping athleticism, he should continue to impress. He needs to stay aggressive.

4) A better start for Rubio. Ricky needs to come out loose and have fun out there. I want to see him beat his man off the dribble and either finish strong or dish. And he needs to hit his 3-point set shot when they give it to him.

5) More minutes for Chase. The board was divided about him after Tuesday, but the truth is we didn't see him enough to really form any conclusions. He looks like he is ready to play at 100% on both sides of the court, and I expect him to get 20 minutes tonight.

6) A 30 point blowout. I know Flip wants to give everyone some time and limit our starters' minutes, but Philly is terrible, and our reserves need to run them off the court. Hit the ground running and don't look back. It's only pre-season, but I want them to make a statement anyway tonight.

7. More minutes for Robinson III. I know, I'm probably the highest on him on this board, but I think he has great role player potential. He also had a good showing Tuesday and perhaps opened some eyes with his play. He's a good passer and always plays smart basketball. Also, I don't remember who said it, but GRIII's getting work at PF? I'd like to see him get more minutes than Hummel tonight.

8. A controlled LaVine. He's got all the tools to be great and I do believe he knows the game well enough to handle the ball. I'd like to see him attack the rim and get to the line. I'd like to see him run the P&R with Dieng or Bennett and make good decisions. I'd much rather see those things instead of the long twos he took Tuesday. Also, he was one of the last Wolves off the court last couple practices. Love that he can have a not-so-good performance and get right back to the grind of getting better. His work ethic seems for real.

I would like to see the game not broken down and over hyped and people coming to conclusions about players. It's dumb and it's just a preseason game

I think there will be patience all around, on this board and in the state in general

I wonder how many people are going to go out and see the game tonight. I bet it's a pretty good crowd for an exhibition. Hope Lip tells us all about it.

Nerlens isn't playing tonight. I also have a feeling that Ricky has a really good game; even scores the ball well.

Noel is an interesting prospect. He's incredibly athletic for someone that big, but in the one game I saw him in, he was trying to do too much offensively. It's too bad he's not playing tonight because he's fun to watch.

I guess those in Minnesota can watch the game on FSN. I just noticed that Time Warner is showing all the preseason games on League Pass tonight for free, so you other out of towners should check and see if your carrier is doing the same.

Now, this is what we were all dreaming of when we traded for Wiggins! 14-6, and Rubio playing loose and effectively. Young, Brewer and Wiggins running the court like it's a track meet, and Pek providing the muscle underneath.

No Bazz or JJ tonight. I'm looing forward to seeing what AB can contribute.

Wiggins has elevated freakishly three times already in the first ten minutes, and it almost seems effortless...like he can do more. 1) an alley-oop from Ricky 2) skying on a jump ball, and 3) leaping over his man even though he was blocked out for a tip in.

Wiggins hasn't even scratched the surface yet, that tip in was effortless I am glad I finally get to see him in HD on my tv instead of youtube highlights.
