Does anyone on the roster deserve to average more then 30 minutes a night? Rubio would be the one if anyone. Martin and Pek would, but I would want them sitting out send nights of back to backs and trying to keep them healthy while spreading some minutes.

Yeah, let's not give Young 30 minutes or more. We'll win games that way.

A few issues with Gideon's post that Cam referenced:

- While points may be 80% replaceable, efficiency is not. Despite having three fairly efficient scorers in Love, Martin, and Pekovic last season, we were still ranked 21st in eFG% (which combines 2-point and 3-point shooting accuracy). So yes, a portion of his scoring will be sopped up by other players, but can they do it with the same level of efficiency? Highly doubtful and that matters a lot when it comes to playing winning basketball.

- Pek's minutes will be limited and Martin is already getting banged up in training camp. How much can we really rely on these guys to carry the scoring load? We also saw how Thad Young struggles when too much is expected of him, so I don't see him suddenly being our go-to guy. Wiggins? LaVine? Shabazz? Go back and look at their efficiency in summer league. Looking to these guys to score in volume and do so efficiently just isn't going to happen this year.

- Brewer is at best an average defender. Yes, he is good at ball denial and gets his fair share of steals, but once his man gets the ball and squares up, Brewer struggles. He isn't long enough to bother a lot of shots (Lip can quote his shrimpy overhead reach) and he gets pushed around in the paint. As a result, he constantly gambles and gives up good looks.

- I think Wiggins could eventually be an elite NBA defender, but to think he will immediately make a big impact in this area is hard to believe. The refs will not give him any benefit of the doubt and he himself has a skinny frame (albeit not as skinny as Brewer). He will have his share of struggles defensively, so by no means can we declare him a stopper out of the gate.

The bottom-line is that a 45-win season is ridiculously optimistic and doesn't take into full consideration the question of offensive efficiency and rookies playing defense.

We need the minutes for GR3.

I'll just comment on the long post from real GM that it had a lot of good info and well thought out and was worth the read so thanks Cam for posting.

On Bennett and other guys 3 point shooting Flip has also said multiple times that one problem with the Wolves 3 point shooting last year was they took bad 3 point shots and Flip said something like they took way too many contested 3's. I don't think Flip is not gonna let Bennett or a guy like Young or whoever shoot 3's I just think he want them to be good shots. Idk how Flip will quantify that but my guess is it starts within reason not contested or early in the shotclock jacked up shots. That sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Personally I'd like to see Bennett have some reasonable emphasis to stay nearer the basket and develop his game there instead of maybe falling in love with a jumpshot. I think that was the point with Love back then also. People bash on Wittman about that but anyone remember if McHale was in favor of that also? I think he was and we know Love and McHale got along pretty well. Bennett has the body to muck it up in the paint I wanna see him do some work in there before worrying about whether I am keeping him from his stretch 4 game. If he can actually shoot he will be able to do that in year 2 with the Wolves. I'm not against him shooting long jumpers or 3's but I wanna see him work on other parts of his game nearer the basket. I'm looking forward to what he brings that picture in the Startibune of hime and Shabazz looks impressive.

Nevermind the fact that Pop is the best coach ever. Nevermind that every single person on that team can shoot. Matt Bonner would be like the wolves second best shooter and he barely gets run with the Spurs. Ah the homer views drives me nuts

Maybe you should take notice that Pop gets on his stars just like every other player on the roster, and his stars are setting an example of working hard at both ends of the floor.

Love's defense was every bit as bad as Rubio's shooting! The wolves tanked when Rubio went down, but still seemed to remain competitive with Love out.

Kevin Martin's defense wasn't as bad as rubios shooting

Edit: Rubio is a bottom 5 shooter. Love isn't a bottom 5 defender
