Is Ricky Really (only) the 19th Best Point Guard in The NBA?

I admit I'm a sucker for these rankings. Although the article is complimentary of Ricky, 19th out of 32? I think he ranks higher personally

Michael Carter-Williams, Jrue Holiday, Kemba Walker, Jeff Teague and Deron Williams (not what he used to be) were wrongly ranked ahead of him. I'll take Ricky Rubio over those guys and that's without him improving his scoring.

That would put Rubio at 14, just behind Lawson and Conley, which is how I see it. I think he's capable of climbing up to top-10 after a good 2014, though.

I'm just happy they ranked him higher than Brandon Jennings!

But I think 15th is a fair assessment. He's better than MCW, Holiday, Teague and arguably Walker.

The one ranking that bugged ne, even more than Ricky's was Stephen Curry ranked 4th. Please. Ricky can't shoot, fine that hurt his ranking. This guy plays no more defense than Kevin Marin. Should that not have dropped him?

I love Rondo's game, thought he'd be higher. I liked Mike Conelly's rank, he got some respect

I'm a big fan of Rubio's current game and his ceiling, but this ranking isn't too out of line with others I have seen. And it's a good reason for Flip to get Ricky locked up long-term right now. Maybe I'm a hopeless optimist when it comes down to Wolves players that I like, but I sense that Ricky is going to be a much more highly rated PG in 3 years. But if they lock him up now, his bargaining power is reduced...it's difficult for his agent to start out big when his client is ranked 19th. I see articles like this as good news, and you can be sure that Flip already has a copy of this in his RR file.

Agree that something in the 13 - 16 range feels about right for Rubio. That's still a good NBA point guard.

Lowry and Conley are great examples of guys that have been grinding it out for a few years and just keep getting better and better. Rubio has improved every season thus far as well. He needs to take another big step forward.
