all_day_88 wrote:offence in general/kevin love is over-rated in my opinion. ya he's really good but he isn't a 2 way player I'd rather have a guy like Derek Favors hands down.
Please retract this statement before you get made fun of.
I'll stand by it, anybody can put up shots and score. I would rather have an athletic defensive Favors than love. Just like many on this board would rather have an athletic defensive wiggins than love
Anybody can put up shots and score? He's the first player in NBA history to record 2,000 points, 900 rebounds and 100 3-pointers in a single season. His numbers place him in a group with seven Hall of Fame talents, including Wilt, Baylor, Kareem and Barkley. This isn't your regular top scorer on a bad team. This is an efficient, big time scorer who contributes on the glass and in facilitating the offense, while being an above average three-point shooter. They don't make those every century. There are guys like Derrick Favors every draft (Noah Vonleh this year). So you can stand by it all you want to. Just know that it's an absolutely absurd statement to make.
Cam I believe he is exhibiting what we in the message board world like to call "trolling". It's typically not something to take seriously
whatever you guys sorry that I have a different opinion than the norm. Im a lifelong twolves fan but call me a troll if you want. My opinion is that defense is more valuable by far than offence and favors is miles ahead of love in that category.
No reason to be sorry, you have every right to voice your opinion, and those of us that have been here for a while certainly remember you posting before. I just feel you are understating Love's offensive prowess.
you act like favors is a scrub on offence. he has a way higher fg% than love and even if you only count their 2 point attempts not to mention Favors is no scrub on the boards either and does it in less minutes than love.
Favors is not even close to a good comparison to tony allen or ricky Rubio because they both suck offensively other than rubio's passing

And you're not understanding how elite Love is on offense. I like that you voiced your opinion, but you are very wrong on this one. We should move on now.
all_day_88 wrote:Id still rather have Favors but I will move on. Here's to hoping we get wiggins and not a soon to be maxed out Thompson, thanks all!
I've felt Favors has been overrated for what seems like years but like others have said you are entitled to your opinion. I will say this the reality of Favors is he is still a young big and its possible his offense take a decent jump in the next couple years of his career. He isn't a finished player on that end. The other question for me is what position is he really. I'll also say that Love isn't finished yet either (he improves something in his game every year) and I do believe his defense will improve especially if the team thats around him actually compliments him which the Wolves as they were put together last year were not at all.
I just watched the clip that was mentioned at the top of this thread. It basically showed me that Stephen A Smith is what I think he is. He is an entertaining guy that spews whatever and people can't help but watch him because he is hilarious and is so damn sure of himself he must know something.
Now my guess is he really values Klay and thats fair enough and maybe he values Barnes alot too, but in that deal the Wolves are GIVING UP assets in that deal and taking back a bad contract that can play in Lee. Is it a bad deal? No, but to say Flip should be drug tested (assuming this deal was even offered) is nutty which is what I think of Smith. I'd probably rather listen to Bill Simmons but I'd take Smith over Skip who is even worse. The SNL sketch of Stephen A Smith was hilarious and I'll give him credit for taking it all in stride. LOL
I'm sure Steven A is saying that because there is a precedent that has been set that teams trading superstars can't be picky but this situation is a little different and Flip seems determined on setting his own precedent. Good for Flip, good for Minnesota. Trading superstars should not be merely an auction to the highest bidder, it should be a buy it now listing.
Phenom's_Revenge wrote:In theory, letting RFAs sign an offer sheet is fine and good but if there is an opt out in the contract, then Ricky and Klay would have the power to pull a K Love on us. I'd rather pay Ricky a little more and be sure to secure him to the team.
yeah... the NBA has a lot of stupid rules. IMO, if a guy signs an offer sheet his current team should be able to match it with their own deal that contains the exact same amount of money or more.

10/10 screw teams thinking they can fleece the team who is practically forced to trade their superstar.
