Mehh. Doesn't do much for me. I'd rather sign a new backup PG and keep Shabazz.

Not entirely sure I'd even do this trade, but what about Pek/13 for Josh Smith/8, assuming no changes in draft order.

Martin
Smith

Smith's athleticism and two-way impact would be nice on this squad. And we move up five spots to ensure Stauskas. I could find myself buying into this.
Detroit gets a low post scorer, could use Monroe as a S/T piece. Drummond and Pekovic would be a pretty nice pairing on both ends of the floor. SVG likes to have a low post animal down low and load up with shooters. I don't think Smith fits what traditional Stan wants to do. (Though, I do believe SVG's a great enough coach to make current pieces work.. DET still needs a shakeup)
Just throwing it out for discussion.

I'd stay as far away from Smith as possible. He's on a max deal and it is a terrible contract. Unless you want to see ill-advised jumpers clanging off the rim all game long, you shouldn't want him either. I'm not sure how Pek/Drummond is any better a fit than Monroe/Drummond and that pairing wasn't very effective and at least Monroe is a high post threat with his passing. Neither Pek nor Drummond go more than 8 feet from the basket ever. Smith is a small-ball 4 at his best position, not a 3. Stauskas is not worth taking on one of the worst contracts in the NBA. Stauskas isn't going to be a two-way game changer, so there should be no reason to give up as much value as Pek just to ensure we get him.
I also don't think taking on Felton is a good idea and Shump just wasn't good this year. I would see if they would just do a Bazz for Shump straight up deal. With the emergence of Hardaway as a rotation guy and JR already being there with nobody going to take him off their hands, they have enough 2's and no depth behind Melo. I would think that would be a pretty even swap given both rosters. Not saying Shump is the answer, but he could at least be a 3 and D threat to start and give us another perimeter defender on the top unit that sports no rim protection.

Detroit will hang up on us if we made that proposal. Both pek and smith are guaranteed big money on long term deals, Pek is 1 yr longer so no cap relief from them.
Pek +drummond is not a good fit. Drummond + monroe is a much better fit style and skills wise. Dont need to consider how smith would fit with us because detroit wont even consider it.
