Re: Thunder roll
Now that a week and 3 Westbrook triple doubles have passed, can we shelve the "OKC needs to trade us Westbrook for Pekovic and bit parts" talk?

Seems like you are taking other posts completely out of context, and then using Westbrook's only good games so far in the PO's. Why not look at his other 6 games where he has been very inefficient. I haven't watched every minute of the OKC PO games, but I can tell you that even though the box score says so, he didn't have a triple double last night. Last time I looked, you don't get an assist for passing the ball to a guy on the perimeter who is tightly guarded so he drives all the way to the hole for a layup.

sjm, seriously? Post-Season AVERAGES: 26.6 ppg; 9.1 rpg; 7.8 apg; 1.6 spg.....one assist doesn't change the fact that this guy is flat out a dominant player, and certainly not someone the Wolves could even sniff in an exchange for Pek and parts. In fact, I don't think they even consider a Rubio/Pek exchange for Westy. He is simply too dynamic. The only way I see a trade working is if they feel the need to shed salary, and we take back one of, if not the worst single year contract in the NBA in the form of Perkins $9.1M. Maybe, only then, do they consider.
Curious. How many would do that deal? Pek/Rubio for Westy/Perkins? I do it 100 times out of 100.

I would do that trade as well mainly because I don't value Pek's contribution to Minny as much as most. Never in my post was I commenting on a specific trade, but only pointing out that taking Westbrook's last three games wasn't a realistic approach to his value. It also isn't realistic to refer to the #13 pick as parts. Westbrook has a TS% of 52 in the PO's so far, which is right on par with his career numbers.
Nobody is disputing that he isn't a great player, just questioning whether there may be a better fit. That being said I think Westbrook is a perfect fit for what Minny needs, and along those same lines isn't as important in OKC because they have Durant along with a very good backup PG in Jackson.
Bringing up the money part is something that should have been more heavily considered. OKC moved Harden due to money, didn't re-sign Martin due to money, and while they would be taking on 12 mil with Pek, they would also be able to shed Perkins 9 mil only costing them 3 mil additional. Pek is a good fit next to Ibaka, and Jackson will certainly be signing for peanuts compared to what Westbrook cost them. OKC seems to value first round picks much more than most, and why not when they seemed to do well in the draft. OKC could just as easily dump Perkins and roll with Adams at C, and save money as well. I believe they have Butler and Sefalosha coming up this off season though and are currently about 6 mil below the expected tax line with Jackson following the next off season.

Re: Thunder roll
yeah the chance was if OKC got bounced out of the first round and even then it was a longshot

I was basing it off a bunch of posts saying the Wolves should only consider it if the trade doesn't include Rubio, and then backing that up by saying the Thunder should make that trade. Westbrook is so effing dynamic. He's not the most efficient, but he changes everything on the court.

The best players are game changers. Guys who impose their will on the game. Even if that backfires sometimes.
Westbrook has a nice track record with a run of 55+ win seasons. He's doing something right... other than stealing shots from Durant.
