Take a Note from the Clippers Sale

Post by khans2k5 [enjin:6608728] »

2 Billion dollars. That's what a bidding war nets you. To all you posters who think we can't get a good return on Love, take note of what a bidding war results in. That will happen with Love because too many teams want him that won't be able to sign him outright next off-season.

I actually find this sale comical. Donald Sterling and his crazy brain are probably laughing all the way to the bank. All of the outrage over his comments, and the forced sale, netted him (or his group) $1.9B in profit. I guess the NBA showed him!

Well I read they will have to pay an estimated 662 million in capitol gains taxes so hopefully he has something left out of that for a couple dinners out at Red Lobster. Maybe he will invite Jason to talk salary cap numbers. Lol

Ha! Yeah, where has Angry Jason been to tell us all how stupid we are? 2 billion, what a joke is right, wasn't that double the amount of the last sale of a team?

To think Sterling bought it for 12 mil. I am sure the wages of his employees increased at the same rate.

There is no cap on what can be paid for a franchise. There are salary cap and draft pick rules that complicate trades. Every team in the NBA will want Love, very few will be able to offer anything enticing and how many of them will Love resign with?

The Clippers sale is a horrible analogy.

2 billion is a giant chunk of money. Sterling did great walking away with that kind of money. His reputation is ruined, people hates him but if you had that much money, whoa. He is lughing all the way to the bank. His children and grandchildren are set for life.

Not to mention he's suing the NBA for $1B for future losses. He should win that case. Shouldn't have been forced to sell or received a lifetime ban. Sterling is walking away with a ton of money.
