Re: Ideal Kevin Love Trades
CLE - No. 1 overall pick, Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson and Alonzo Gee for Kevin Love and Chase Budinger.
Rubio/Waiters/Wiggins/Thompson/Pekovic
GS - Klay Thompson, David Lee, 2019 1st round pick for Kevin Love, Chase Budinger and J.J. Barea
Rubio/Thompson/Brewer/Lee/Pekovic
CHI - Taj Gibson, Nikola Mirotic, Jimmy Butler, Mike Dunleavy and 2 2014 1st round picks for Kevin Love and Chase Budinger
Rubio/Martin/Butler/Gibson/Pekovic
*Your Boston offer*
BOS - No. 6 overall pick, Jeff Green, Jared Sullinger and No. 17 overall pick for Kevin Love, Corey Brewer (why get rid of him before Budinger?) and J.J. Barea.
Rubio/Martin/Green/Randle/Pekovic
I like all three of the above deals better than your Boston offer, I think.

It's also a little weird that I think the CLE/GS deals make us a better team than the one we have now, talent-wise and in our cap situation.
Re: Ideal Kevin Love Trades
ok, next question - which of these trades does Love go along with, assuming the other team is amenable?

Ideal was probably a bad choice. Mine was what I thought was realistic. GS won't give up Thompson, so I have no interest if we're not getting him back.
On who Kevin Love goes with I'd say GS because of the competitiveness and Boston because of the market
And yes I'd much rather get rid of Bud

I'd assume he'd be good with all of them, honestly. In each situation he's being paired up with another star. Golden State (Curry), Chicago (Rose/Noah), Cleveland (Kyrie) and Boston (Rondo).

I believe mine are realistic as well. GS doesn't want to give up Thompson, but he's the centerpiece for a Love trade. Not Lee. Not Barnes. Not Green. I don't know about you, but if I was president over in the Warriors FO, I'm not thinking twice about Thompson. I'd be getting a top-five player in the NBA to pair with my current star. No brainer for me. Bye Klay.

Re: Ideal Kevin Love Trades
I'm going to go with the GS trade similar to Cams (and others). I'd trade Love and Bud, maybe throw JJ in as well but he's not a deal breaker, for Thompson, Lee, Barnes, and a 2015 first round pick. Barnes still has a little potential but more importantly he'd bring some versatility to the SF position. I'd also rather have a 2015 first, 2019 is just too far away to be worth much when we need to worry about keeping guys like Rubio and Thompson in this scenario.
Any talk of GS not trading Thompson is just to keep his value high, the same way Taylor and others are saying we won't trade Love. In the end Love is the far superior player so GS would be foolish not to include Thompson.

Re: Ideal Kevin Love Trades
There is no ideal kevin love trade in my view as it will be extremely difficult to replace what love brings to the team. The first 3 picks in the draft and a chance to draft wiggins/parker/embiid is the best value for me but it will start another rebuilding project for us and its been a decade since we were in the playoffs and a decade of us blowing lottery picks and cap space. Dont think love will entertain the idea of cle, mil or philly too so its a long shot.
We dug ourselves a hole with blown picks and misuse of cap space over the years.

Re: Ideal Kevin Love Trades
I still think Golden State is the ideal trade partner. And I think they are just posturing by saying Klay is off the table. And if I'm the Wolves I'm not even picking up the phone until he's on the table.
Even if Kevin Love wants out, there should still be a bidding war for his services. I mean how often does a player of his caliber, in his prime, become available? Not often. The Wolves need to hold out for a great deal. I would offer Golden State this:
Love, K-Mart, and JJ for Lee, Klay, Barnes and Steve Blake.
Golden State gets their man in Love, and a decent replacement in K-Mart for Klay. Wolves get Klay, Lee (a poor man's Love--and 6 years older), Barnes (a player who could still break out) and Blake, a much better fit playing behind Rubio.
The bottom line is even if K-Love wants out, the Wolves are still in the driver's seat. Because many teams will want him. But only one team can have him. So a team like Golden State can either step up and pay the price now, or gamble that they can get him cheaper at the trade deadline. But considering they just had a disappointing season and need to try and make a push, my bet is they will roll the dice now.

I still say all this fuss was caused by Phil "Zen Master" Jackson, playing mind games with the NBA again. Love will be a Wolf to start the season...
