Bleed -- Actually not a bad idea and maybe realistic. LRMM with either Shved or JJ for Mayo. Then sign Isaiah Thomas using the MLE. Pair those two with Shabazz and either Dieng or Turiaf in our second unit and we suddenly have a credible bench.
I would consider starting Mayo and bringing Martin off the bench. I think Mayo can play D when he is motivated.
I think Harris showed today that he has more potential as a prospect. Both him and Stauskas will be serviceable NBA players as I see it. But Harris is a far superior athlete. State showed today some of Nick's downside. When you put athletes smothering Stauskas he will have some trouble getting going. I saw the same thing earlier in the season with Nick against Duke. If both are there at 12 I would take Harris. I do agree with the sentiment that Stauskas will work his way up higher than 18 but I don't think he deserves it. I think he will get some of the overvaluing Jimmer treatment because Nick is such a perfect college player.
Doper's proposed deal with the Suns is too aggressive, but I'm intrigued by his concept of trading down in this deep draft if it allowed us to address multiple needs. If we could find a way to unload unattractive contracts and/or pick up a veteran that helps us out, and Flip still thinks there will be a very good SG available with a later pick (Petteway, Seldon, Hairston, Markel or Jabari Brown, Young...so many good ones), it might be a good option to pursue.
I don't see it as being that aggressive. There is a very good chance that the first Phoenix holds does turn into the second's. Why not move up and get the player you want now, rather than roll the dice on a later pick. They have plenty of picks, so why not improve the quality. If the wolves miss the PO's again next season, which looks like a reasonable bet, Love is sure to bolt which makes us a bottom dweller again.
There have been some interesting players slipping in the mocks so far. I know we have had a lot of players who can't shoot and have dealt with some undersized 4s. If we don't have a surefire 2 at our spot, and if Gordon somehow slips I want him. I think he is going to be an amazing defender at multiple positions. He is smart, great handles and is an athletic freak. I think he would immediately upgrade our potential on the defensive end. And unlike MBAM, he can dribble and pass.
What do you guys think about Aaron Craft at Ohio State as a backup PG? I haven't heard his name mentioned much in draft talk? I've seen him play a few times and his hustle is amazing, not a bad facilitator/shooter. But cant say I've seen him recently.
Craft will be almost useless offensively in the NBA. I can certainly envision some team giving him a chance to make their squad, but no way do I see him being taken in the 1st round. He may be able to latch on to the end of the bench for some team that needs an emergency backup. You know he will defend and make good decisions, but that's about it.
Interested to watch Taylor Braun play. Kid's the main reason a lot of people are picking North Dakota State over Oklahoma. I don't see that happening, but Braun's name being referenced so often has caught my attention. Has good stats, but I need him to pass the eye test.
