I am starting to go with the feeling that if we get the number 1 pick for Love regardless of what else we might get, I think you take Embiid and find a way to trade Pek. You just look at Embiid, and he is a legit 7 footer with 3 point range and tremendous footwork with only 4 years of basketball under his belt. He is was a huge defensive force in college and he looks like he could have the same presence in the pros. Dieng is a nice piece, but I would think an Embiid/Dieng rotation at the 5 would be one of the best 2 way combos in the league. Not to mention you keep the minutes down for both so they don't get injured and you let them foul away because there is a legitimate backup plan there. I like Wiggins, but I think Embiid is the bigger game changer on the court. Also, doing some more reading on Wiggins having no handles is troublesome given that ball-handling is not something you really get better at this point in his playing career. I didn't really notice a big problem in college, but he wasn't exactly asked to create much offense in college either. I think with Embiid and Ricky as the cornerstones of the defense, you could pretty much have whoever else you want in between and it wouldn't really matter. I think you turn Pek and Martin into picks some how be it for this year or in the future and go with your big 2 of Ricky/Embiid moving forward.

Embiid doesn't have three-point range. 1-5 total last year at Kansas and that's at college range. Just to clarify that.

I think we'd go with the potential star wing player. The league today is all about winning from the perimeter. Wiggins/Parker have a chance to be one of those LeBron/Durant/George/Melo types. Even if Embiid became Dwight Howard, we're still miles away from being a contender. Not to mention you block Dieng who has potential to be a good starting center in the NBA. Rubio/Wiggins/Dieng looks far better to me than Rubio/Embiid.

That's without bringing up the injury concerns of Embiid. Far bigger gamble without as big of a payoff. I'll take one of the wings.

Yes, but I think it would be more prudent to draft either Embid/Wiggins and let the core of Irving/Waiters/Rookie (with Thompson and Bennett in tow) grow together rather than waste assests and hope Love stays. If Love and Irving left the Cavs would have absolutely nothing. If I were them I would take a guaranteed 4 years of whatever rookie I select rather than potentially one year of Love

So Simmons lied in his report from watching Embiid workout? I understand practice and games are two different things, but anyone who watched him at Kansas saw the touch he has on his jumpshot. Here's the eye test scouting report of the workout:

"He wasn't playing against anyone, just going through a two-hour workout with Will Perdue. Here's what I can tell you: He moves around as effortlessly as a 7-foot Serge Ibaka; he's such an athletic freak that he's one of those "still going up as he's finishing the dunk" guys; his freakish wingspan might make Jay Bilas pass out; he has been playing basketball for only four years (which seems impossible); he gave up a world-class volleyball career; he has 3-point range; he can shoot jump-hooks with both hands already; he couldn't have seemed more coachable/agreeable/likable; he's a hard worker with a goofy sense of humor; his voice is just a touch Mutombo-y (deep with a heavy African accent); and his friends call him "Jo-Jo." And again -- his back seemed totally fine."

Bill Simmons has been an Embiid fanboy all of last season. Of course he's going to talk him up. I'd also like to point out that Simmons is a poor reference in most situations.

Embiid's one of the best prospects in this draft, but if he did have 3 PT range, Kansas would have used him accordingly. 1-5? Even Kevin Love went 29-82 (35%) in college.

I see two realistic trade scenarios that would be reasonable deals for both teams. Then I see two semi-realistic deals that could happen if the other team is confident they can re-sign Love.

TWO REALISTIC DEALS:

1. Love and Martin to the Warriors for Thompson, Barnes and Lee. After getting knocked out in the first round, firing Jackson was the first move by a front office with a sense of urgency. That sense of urgency will predispose the Warriors to trade for Love. Kevin would be a big upgrade over Lee and would fit perfectly next to the Warriors' defensive center, Bogut. The Warriors already have their go-to star/scorer/leader in Curry. Love would be the perfect secondary star behind Curry. Barnes proceeds depth to the Warriors roster, but I think they'd part with him for Love. The Warriors would be confident they could re-sign Love and reports already indicate Love is interested. Why would this be a good deal for the Wolves? It would surround Rubio with faster, more athletic players who could take better advantage of his virtuoso passing skills. It would also give us two players with significant upside in Thompson and Barnes. I think Barnes has Paul George potential.

2. Love and Martin to the Bulls for Gibson, Butler, Mirotic, and the Bulls' two first round picks this year (16 & 19). The Bulls may need to include some additional salary filler but I haven't checked. Not sure the Bulls would part with all three players I mentioned, but Love would be a HUGE prize for the Bulls. A core of Rose, Noah and Love coached by Thibs and the Bulls would be a true powerhouse in the weak East.

TWO SEMI-REALISTIC DEALS:

1. Love and Budinger or Barea to Cleveland for this year's #1 pick, Waiters and Gee

2. Love and Budinger to the Suns for the better Morris twin, Gerald Green, the # 14 & 18 picks this year and the return of our own future first round pick that Kahn gave away in his pathetic attempt to get the Suns to take Wes Johnson so Kahn could clear cap space for Ak47 and Brandon Roy.

Lip- As a hardcore Tar Heels fan, let me tell you, Harrison Barnes is a bum. Stay away from him. Otherwise, you'll be waiting for a very long time for a breakout season that will not come.

What I don't understand is that I am sure we could take the lakers at #7 or Bos at #6 plus a whole lot more, so why even make the offer. Funny thing in the article is that the Kings signed DMC to a 4YR contract extension last season, and somehow that is spun into a positive, yet Love getting that same deal was a HUGE negative.

The kings showed they are willing to spend money??? They showed that they don't know how to build a team from what I have seen. They are paying out the same salary as the wolves and weren't even sniffing the PO's, and really have no reason to be optimistic about seeing improvement from within.

Looking at their cap numbers, we would be taking back significant salary because they have no cap space as well, which also means we couldn't expect to dump off any bad contracts. This is almost as bad as the "SA has been mentioned as a suitor for Love" BS I read over the weekend. SA could offer up Tiago Splitter!
