OK Now what-a-we do???
Re: OK Now what-a-we do???
Bud and Pek for Sanders and OJ Mayo. Realistic values, but a trade I would not do.
I have NEVER liked Pek's contract. I think it will be extremely tough to move, especially when so much attention is paid to the cap these days. Flip boo-booed on this one, IMO.

Yep, definitely a bad contract. I never liked it either, I was always wondering why a guy who hadn't played 1 full season was deserving of a 5 year contract.
Flip isn't going to admit he was wrong here, nor do I see any other teams wanting this contract for a guy who might average 50-60 games a year.
We're going to have to implement a 3-headed monster down low. Although it will slow down Rubio's fast breaking most of the time.

I think if we are fighting for a playoff spot he would be playing through it. With Dieng's development he should be playing 30 or less minutes a night.I would like to see us rest him on back to backs in the future.

We were fighting for a PO spot when he started sitting out. Pek hasn't been playing huge minutes in any season so far. Usually around 30 minutes a night, and it hasn't mattered. I think it is simply a case of his ankles not being able to take the nightly pounding of that huge frame.
Lloyd, I agree that it is unlikely that Flip admits his mistake and decides to move Pek. I do think a team like Cleveland would be willing to take him on, but it doesn't mean they will give up much to do that.

A lot of people on here claimed Love and Rubio were injury prone too before the season, but they've played most of the season.
With the numbers Pek puts up, compared to others making 12 mil, he's really not overpaid

Re: OK Now what-a-we do???
The difference with Pek is that his injury is repetitive in nature. It is likely to get worse over time. Ricky tore an ACL, something that is relatively common, and once fixed really doesn't have a likelihood of reoccurrence. Love broke his hand, and then returned too soon and re-broke it.
Offensively, Pek isn't overpaid, but the team defense is where he is severely limited, and that doesn't necessarily show up on most stat sheets. It isn't just the amount of money but the length of contract as well.

I really hope that some other GMs agree with you that Pek is not overpaid, because that will make it easier to move him. I want to believe it too because of his impressive offensive stats, and it's easier for a GM to sell offense rather than defense to a fan base. But I'm concerned that his inability to play a full season and lack of vertical defense may make other GMs not want his contract. We'll just have to see...it's up to Flip now.

vertical defense? Are we just making up terms now?

Dieng might look like the better defender, but quality centers have put up big time numbers against him so far. Pek right now is a better man defender then Dieng. Our overall defensive numbers also haven't been any different with Dieng playing instead of Pek. Dieng might prove to be a more valuable player in the future, but for now, Pek is the more valuable player now

Alex, your loyal defense of Pek is admirable, but I don't often agree with your logic. The consistency of your position has gotten me to wonder about something though. I'm going to test my suspicions with a question:
How do you feel about ice fishing?
