How much money are we talking about?

Post by Papalrep »

If Klove leaves, how much money does he leave on the table, as we can pay him the most (right?). Economics are our best hope

He'd leave about 27 million on the table

He'd leave nearly 27M on the table but a very large portion of that would be the additional year the Wolves can offer that another team cannot. That additional year can, and most likely will be made up when he resigns after his third year of that contract unless he gets injured or stops giving a f'ck.

If he goes to a team like LA then he could make it all up and then some in endorsements, but then he would be going to a suck ass team.

Good point, sp, about most of the $27 million being the extra year. But that's still a selling point because it's guaranteed. A professional athlete always has the risk of a career ending injury.

Love already makes a lot of money in endorsements and I don't know that he makes a significant amount more if he moves to La La land. And he has to cope with a much higher cost of living and higher taxes (yes, worse than Minny in Love's bracket).

Minnesota's going to be the best money deal for Kevin, if that ends up being the deciding factor.

It would be nice if they could get Love to agree to pickup his option for the following year, so we wouldn't have to trade him or get nothing this up coming season. According to Larry Coon there isn't any type of notice required by the NBA until the end of the season, so an agreement by Love and the wolves could be reworked if an extension or FA re-signing was worked out.
