Love to Celtics

Love to Celtics could get us the best deal if we trade him. A top 5 pick this year, a Nets pick in the future and another first plus a young player or two for Love. Sign me up.

Talk about living in a fantasy world.

I'll bet Flip is chomping at the bit knowing the Celts are willing to offer up Olynyk!

Maybe we should be throwing in the #13 pick as well.

Chicago could give us Taj Gibson in his prime on a great deal while also being a great fit next to Pek; Jimmy Butler on a rookie deal at 24 years old while being a great fit next to Martin; a top 20 pick in this years deep draft and another first round pick in next years draft because they have two firsts in this years draft. The Boston deal nets us no guaranteed starters and forces us to wait for picks until possibly 2018. The Nets owner spends way too much money to finish bottom 5 in the league. I'd rather take the 2 proven quality starters and two first round picks for Love than 1 top 5 pick and scraps. A Ricky/Martin/Butler/Gibson/Pek starting 5 is very balanced and has very good defensive potential. You put Dieng in that starting 5 and that team has a shot at being one of the best defensive teams in the league. That Boston deal is garbage. Even if we deal Love, we are in no place for a full rebuild. Any writer that thinks we would blow it all up and start from scratch again just doesn't understand the roster that is on this team right now. We have a starting C making 12 million a year for 4 more years, a starting PG about to get a long-term extension and multiple role players making a decent chunk of change for 2-3 more years. Flip couldn't blow it up if he wanted to with the contracts on this team.

Agreed khans. I've long been saying that Chicago has the pieces to go after if we were to trade Love. I'd squeeze Mirotic out of them too. Sad that we were the team that initially drafted him, if I recall correctly.

Gibson, Butler, Mirotic and two first rounders for Kevin Love and a contract (Budinger?). That's the best possible offer if it comes to dealing Love.

*No I don't think Chicago would be giving up too much. Love's a top-five player in basketball that's just entering his prime.

All hypothetical, but assuming we made this trade and drafted Stauskas with our own lottery pick, our future would look like:

Rubio/MLE
Stauskas/Martin
Butler/Brewer
Gibson/Mirotic
Pekovic/Dieng

It's not ugly I'll tell you that. Lacking star power, but lots of pieces that fit together. Youth as well. Relatively high potential with Rubio, Stauskas and Mirotic.

I just dont know of any situation where a team traded its star player for alot of moving parts and came out ahead.
Unfortunately it will always be the reality of this organization.

Why don't you ask Cleveland how they've been doing since Lebron left them high and dry? Or the Lakers since Dwight jumped ship? At least teams like Orlando, NO, Denver and Utah got building blocks as a direct result of their trades. Something is better than nothing in almost every case that has happened so far with the recent star moves (Toronto being the only net neutral as they have been able to recover decently through the draft since Bosh left).

That is the answer right there. I really don't see any team giving up the #1 pick for Love anyway. We need to just ride it out and keep trying to improve the roster. If he leaves, he leaves.
