Hypocrisy involved with Sterling's comments

What about Larry Johnson calling for an all-black league, how is that any less racist than Sterling calling for all-white fans?

To be fair, Johnson's tweet was written so poorly, I don't really know what the hell he's trying to say.

1. The NBA is a player's league. The players were very upset and allegedly planned to stage a protest. That type of PR would have been very very difficult to overcome. That type of animosity from your "money-makers" would have been difficult to overcome.
2. The public was largely on the player's side.
3. Maybe Silver's punishment for Sterling won't stand. That's fine. It doesn't matter. As commissioner, he "did everything in his power" to appease the players and the fans... without alienating the owners too much.
4. If it gets reversed at this point, it's from a higher court and Silver and the NBA can pass the buck. The fans and public can take it out on the courts and Silver can throw up his arms in disgust as well.

They did what they had to do to protect the NBA brand.
They weren't champions of any cause. They weren't unfair. They weren't bad asses. They acted as businessmen and did what was best for their collective best interests.

It was a marketing decision based on securing a brand and the bottom line.
