The Case For Stan Van Gundy
Re: The Case For Stan Van Gundy
Love appreciates killer 'staches!
And Flip already has an inside connection to Stan -- buddies with Jeff...
I'm on board with Stan the Man.

Tim, isn't everybody buddies in the NBA? Lip was saying he thinks Flip and SVG might clash. I think Love and SVG would clash, being that Love is a baby and wouldn't take direction. But I'm still on board with Ron Jeremy, er, SVG!
Re: The Case For Stan Van Gundy
If nothing else, SVG would definitely be entertaining on the sidelines. :)

I have officially jumped on the bandwagon, every time I watch the Rockets it convinced me even more, watching Dwight regress, knowing he took almost the same 3 ball offense to the fucking final! The .641 winning percentage like Cam already stated, and his overall fiery nature.

Re: The Case For Stan Van Gundy
Il be happy with stan van gundy as well. I do have slight concerns about stan's personality eventually getting on the players nerves. He feuded with shaq in miami and howard in orlando. Stan seems to be the guy that is endearing at first but his personally wore on you overtime and especially when things arent going as good as you hoped. nevertheless the guy can coach and can stir the team on the right direction.
Stan along with jeff van gundy, hollins, scott skiles and hoiberg are guys i would be happy with.
Guys I hope we stay away from are vinny del negro, dunleavy sr, avery johnson, mo cheeks, terry porter and the larry brown and don nelsons.
If thibbs or vogel becomes available, they would be good choices as well.

Re: The Case For Stan Van Gundy
If I'm right in my read on Flip, our next head coach will either be Flip or a weaker personality like Del Negro or Dunleavy. I still think it will be Flip. Although his last remark was that it was unlikely given everything on his plate as GM, the fact that he still left the door open ("can never say never") tells me he'll ultimately take the reins. Think about it. When asked about Hoiberg as our next head coach he responded emphatically, " that's not going to happen!" When asked about himself as head coach his responses have ranged from, "I'm not going to address that" to "I don't see that scenario happening but you can never say never." The contrast speaks volumes about Flip and his true intentions.
Then Flip talks about taking his time selecting a new head coach, content to wait until after the draft. He also talked about going through a process. That's not what you do if you are seriously interested in hiring an elite head coaching possibility like Stan Van Gundy. You don't put guys of that caliber through some sort go application "process" and you don't exclude them from participating in your team's draft selection and early summer personnel planning. Guys like Stan Van Gundy need to be recruited and enticed, not put into a selection process with others on a timeframe that excludes them fom critical draft decisions.
I just hope I'm wrong about Flip. If not, then I hope Taylor stands up to him. In any event, a good President of Basketball Operations would plan to hire a new head coach within the next 4 weeks, would have a short list of 3 or 4 priority candidates to pursue and would already be heavily recruiting Stan Van Gundy. Flip already knows these guys and how they coach. There is no credible reason for waiting less you are waitng to see if Vogel or Thibs is fired and available, but the Thibs scenario is highly remote and The Vogel scenario is uncertain and not with waiting for when you have guys like SVG and Hollins already available.

Re: The Case For Stan Van Gundy
I am on board. SVG is my first choice. Hoiberg is my second. Seriously how has SVG not gotten another job?
Easy - he doesn't need the money, can afford to pick and choose.Flip knowing his brother means basically nothing.
I'm fine with SVG, Karl, or Popovich. Flip will offer the job to 2 or 3 big names that don't want the job, so he can tell Taylor he tried. Then he will hire himself. I HATE the stop and pop crap Flip coachs. On the brighter side (I guess) Love may stay because eFlip would be easy for him to play for.

Re: The Case For Stan Van Gundy
I'm expecting Flip to come out and say this in a few weeks,
"After a long and exhaustive search for a new head coach, I feel like my ego can't watch a stronger head coach be successful here, so I will be assuming the role of head coach so our fans can enjoy a semi-competitive team with just a whiff of a playoff run in the next 5 years."

My zodiac said:
SVG is well like coach and good player coach but no fire same as Leslie Frazer with same zodiac. Would you like that?
Lionel Hollins is high expectation coach and stubborn won't adapt to any situation just like Kurt Rambo "triangle" and "triangle" and our beloved coach Alderman "corner offense" and "corner offense" and no need to play defense necessary . Would you like the same taste?
Karl is great mind coach and understand his players very well on both side of the ball just like Pete Carrol but they don't like to develop young players. Don't you want to see your new rookies can do? Or watching same players every game and wondering about the rookies can do better than a veteran.
Now my 2 cents: As we know, Popovich is great coach and the Spur is great franchise. He's willing use anything or the whole bench to win the game. He's very good as developing young players. He is very good adapting to any circumstance and see opponent's weakness like hack a shaq or Dwight Howard, or make Lebron take a jump shot until he can make that's why Cavaliers lost final in 2007, list goes on ...... He has his team play a highly anticipating defense as a unit like Bruce Bowen perimeter defense and Duncan at the rim. Therefore, coach Pop, Fred H, and Kevin Ollie are sharing the same zodiac. Bingo!!!

Your zodiac stuff sounds like a load of bullshit, but thanks for commenting nonetheless.
Question: Have you ever watched Stan Van during a game, listened to a presser? No fire? You're joking I hope.
How do you compare Hollins to Rambis? One's a tough coach who can get to the playoffs; the other's a loser with a ridiculous haircut.
Popovich is available?? THAT SOLVES EVERYTHING!
