Ty over Ricky?
Ty over Ricky?
Should we have traded the fifth and kept the 16th pick in that fateful Kahn draft? Discuss

Sigh. Wrong question. Why not have both? Kahn was never wrong about the idea of playing two PGs together since Ricky is big enough to guard a lot of 2's. The issue isn't Ty over Ricky or Curry over Ricky or Holiday over Ricky. It's any of those other guys over Jonny Flynn.
Re: Ty over Ricky?
I stand corrected. You are right. WHY FLYNN??? Oh Well

To be fair, and we don't like doing this, Flynn might have panned out had he been able to play a different system of basketball AND stay healthy. That hip injury doomed his career and the triangle offense Rambis was trying to make work was a joke, just like he was as a decision maker.

^^^^^^ This! Flynn is an easy target when you ignore the injury and his handicap, I mean coach. Would he have been better than Curry or Lawson? Unlikely, yet at draft time he was widely considered to be a better prospect than Lawson, and Curry's small school background had some questioning his transition to the NBA. Flynn was the wrong pick in hindsight, unfortunately you have to make a choice long before your hindsight kicks in.

But really, hind site kicked in, Ricky would be third in a Curry/Lawson/Rubio race for top pick. I like Ricky, a lot. But he needs to fix that huge hole in his game.

I was huge on Lawson and even got into a few arguments with guys on the old espn board when they said he was too small. He was soooo good at unc he had it all. Lightning speed, lights out shooting, quick hands on D and the passing ability. Then again i've also been wrong about a lot of guys, usually bigs. I'm a sucker for shot blocking college bigs.
anyways though ya its neither here nor there Kahn screwed up badly and we just have to live with it

What I was right about in that draft: Flynn will not last in the NBA. I loved him in college, but I couldn't see his game translating to the NBA. I hear a lot of hip and Rambis excuses, but he just wasn't NBA material. Terrible pick... no hindsight.
What I was wrong about in that draft. Ty Lawson will not be a great NBA player. I can't remember why I thought that, maybe his size, but I did. All day is right...he was lights out at UNC. Almost 17 and 7 his last year, and shot 53%...and 47% on threes. Why wasn't he more highly regarded coming out?

Re: Ty over Ricky?
Does Lawson remain bitter about being passed over or something?
He seems to destroy the Wolves. I heard he was averaging 23 ppg and 64% 3fg% at home vs. the Wolves. He added to that yesterday.
Let it go Ty. It's been long enough to get over... geez.

Never! I ran into a girl last week who turned me down when I asked her to dance at a party almost 50 years ago...I'm still bitter!
