If the Wolves cant make the POs..
If the Wolves cant make the POs..
With this roster is there any hope? The west is looking strong as ever and the Wolves have their most talented roster since 04 and are on the outside looking in. Even if they keep the draft pick this year and shuffle some peices around how much better can they be? A second round exit at best? Someone assure me they havent peeked with Loves extension looming.

Was their any hope for the 2013-14 Phoenix Suns? Everyone on this board said no, but they sure look good now.
Amazing what a new coach can do.

I dont disagree with that , but do u think it will take a younger coach not stuck in his ways with an understanding of how the game is played these days? Who could that be?

I think you nailed it...a young coach with a lot of energy, but still a deep knowledge of the NBA game. I don't profess to being an expert, but my choice is Hoiberg. I love what he has done at Iowa State with less talent than a lot of other programs, so he clearly knows how to motivate and get the most out of his guys. And the offense he runs is supposed to be much more pro-oriented than college, so he shouldn't have to make many adjustments.
I think almost anyone would be an improvement over the 2014 Adelman, but it's vital that Flip gets this one right. We Wolves fans have suffered long enough.

I like that move. I hate the idea of a college coach with years of success there .They too are stuck in their ways and maynot transition well to the NBA. This team needs a fresh face like Boston. Someone that relates to players and understands the evolution of the game. Dont get me wrong, I loved the game in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s but they are no longer. We need someone adaptable to his players and the league.
The question is, does this team have the skill set to adapt as well. The coach can only do so much.

I honestly don't think any alternative to Adelman would have gotten the Wolves into the playoffs this season. I'll start my broken record again and say that our roster is fundamentally flawed -- too many one-dimensional players, no interior vertical defenders, the absence any guards or SFs who can create their own shot off the dribble, a lack of overall speed or athleticism, bench caliber players in the starting lineup, and a D-League caliber bench.
We have one great player in Love, an excellent playmaker at the PG position in Ricky, and a very good low post scorer who lacks length and mobility and who can't stay healthy (Pek). That's not a roster you can count on to make the playoffs in the West under any head coach and it's definitely not a roster with any shot at contending for a championship.
I'm ready for a new, younger coach. But Flip has his work cut out for him improving this roster regardless of who ends up coaching this team next season.

New coach, new faith in the team. I think we're all ready to move on from Adelman. I think we all want some fresh blood running the team. A coach who's going to let Ricky be Ricky, utilize Shabazz's blatant strengths and keep Love happy and focused (Love isn't the problem, but a new coach needs to get a good relationship with star quick).
Like LST, I'm interested in Hoiberg if we go with a young coach. If we try to go after an experienced coach on the market, I'm in favor of Stan Van and Hollins. I think both of them can get more out of this current roster than Adelman has. We've underachieved yet again and I can't help but to put that on Adelman's shoulders this year. We overachieved last year with all the injuries. He got credit for that, he can get credit for this too.

Good points, Cam. I'd love to see the Wolves hire Hollins or Stan Van to coach this team. I'd take either one over Fred Hoiberg for two reasons -- (1) they are both fiery emotional coaches, and (2) they are both proven winners as NBA head coaches. I like Fred, but his personality is flat and he has no track record as an NBA coach -- head coach or assistant. I think this team needs a tough, emotional coach. And I think it has to be so done with a track record that will command Love's respect.

The problem is that some of the biggest contributors are responsible for this team being fundamentally unsound. How far can u strip it down without calling it a rebuild. Which is the last thing Love wants to hear.

At some point you need something in the first place to call it a rebuild, we've done nothing the last 10 years so regardless of what move we make I wouldn't call it a rebuild.
