Warnandrew was the biggest proponent of Ty Lawson. Being the stat guy that I am, I ran the numbers on him back then and concluded that he had a season of historic proportions in his final year at UNC: 66 TS% and a 3.5 Asst/TO ratio is just unbelievably efficient basketball. The reason he dropped in that draft was because of his size and prior year's DUI. But he should have never dropped out of the Top 10 in my opinion.

Thanks for that perspective.q. I'm convinced that size shouldn't come into play with PGs as much as other positions. And a DUI is a silly reason to pass on a guy. But I must have thought differently back then, because I was nowhere near the Lawson bandwagon.

Lawson also won a national championship that year he came out. It's not like he came up short in big games. Also thought he was the unquestioned leader of that team. I liked him and Hansborough a lot actually, but knew Psycho-T wouldn't be more than a bench guy. Lawson, on the other hand, had all the tools. I can pat myself on the back for this one.
As for why he didn't get more draft love, my only guesses are the DUI thing, the fact he was an upperclassmen and maybe because it was a PG heavy draft. That's all I can put together. None of which are good enough reasons.
