Good news on Pek

Post by Mstermisty [enjin:6864008] »

It sounds like he's out for this road trip and maybe longer. So Gorgui should be starting and seeing heavy minutes (although with Adelman this year you just never know).

This is the best thing that could happen right now: force Adelman to develop Gorgui, and make an early assessment of whether or not this could be the future of the team. No doubt the Wolves have been dynamic offensively this year with Pek and Love, but those two are still a serious liability defending the rim. Both are decent one on one defenders, but neither are good help defenders. And it isn't about blocking shots necessarily, it's more about altering shots or making an opposing player think twice. Gorgui does that (and he gets blocks). Offensively his game is raw, but you can see the potential there (I liked how already last game he started playing off of Rubio). And I love his attitude--confident, but not cocky or delusional about what he can do.

Now to the bad news: Shabazz keeps riding the pine--last game he got the DNPCD--emphasis on the CD. How can we get Brewer or K-Mart injured to get him some time? Shutting down Bud is the other obvious move to help Shabazz, but Bud seems to be Adelman's golden boy.

I'm shocked  , but it looks like Pek isn't going to get his $1 million+ bonus for playing in more than 70 games. Might have been the safest incentive ever built into a contract.

I'm tired of the DNP-CD's for Muhammad...I'm convinced it stands for "Did Not Play-Coach is a Dipshit"

Or a dunce...delusional...delirious...so many options.

Looking forward to seeing some more 10-10-5 games from Gorgui.

The AGBT (Adelman Golden Boy Trio) of Barea, Budinger and Cunningham need to be replaced by Dieng, Shved and Shabbazz. Developing these players is one of the keys to this franchise making the next step. Unfortunately with Rick Adelman at the helm I can't see it happening. He has his own agenda at the moment, what ever it may be.

Jerry Z just tweeted that Dieng will start until Pek comes back, unless the opponent starts a smaller center or PF. So he'll surely start in Dallas and Houston. I know that seems obvious, but sometimes Adelman's stubbornness knows no bounds.

It will be good to evaluate Dieng with the starters to further evaluate how expendable Pek might be.
