I assumed from day one that Flip's plan at the outset was to coach this team after Adelman's departure. But I was told a few months ago by someone I respect in the organization that a Flip won't be our next head coach.

I probably trust Lip's sources more than Jerry Zgoda's, but for the record, Zgoda said the same thing a month ago...that he was hearing there is no way Flip succeeds Adelman.

I think Flip would be a better head coach than GM. He has a track record as a pretty good head coach. He has no track record of success as head of an NBA's basketball operations and his performance on that role so far is pretty underwhelming. Unfortunately, if Flip replaces Adelman as our next head coach, he'll still be head of basketball operations. I don't want him in both roles. That's almost always a disaster no matter who the person is because the responsibilities of those two jobs combined makes it nearly impossible to do both well. Also, it is hard to maintain the big-picture, longer term perspective of a GM when you are in the trenches as a head coach trying to win every game one at a time. So I hope my source I'd right.
