So you're saying Dieng is a better offensive player than Pekovic? That's a terrible knee-jerk reaction. Just over a month ago we were campaigning for Pek's All Star bid. Not to take anything away from Dieng, who has been playing great, but he is on par with Turiaf or Chris Johnson last year in terms of offense--pretty undeveloped.
I didn't say that, but players perform differently in different matchups, and Gorgui was performing well last night. What isn't a knee jerk reaction is to say that Pek hasn't shown the ability to score in clutch situations. I also don't see how having Pek in the paint would have helped Love. There were too many defenders down low, and that is because we didn't have guys knocking down outside shots, not because Pek wasn't in the game. Gorgui has already shown more offensive ability than either Turiaf or Johnson have in their careers.

Because now Love can be one of those guys who can knock down outside shots instead of being the only post scorer?
I'm a huge Dieng fan, but I can understand why Adelman sat him late in the game. While theoretically he is a great defender, who do you think the refs will give the benefit of the doubt to if a little tap on the arm or jostling of the body takes place late in the game when defending Dirk? It sure as hell won't be Gorgui. Whereas Love could push, shove and jostle Dirk a bit more and get away with it because both are superstars. And at the end of the day, Love defended Dirk brilliantly on the final shot. I'm not sure Gorgui has the discipline yet to stay down on that initial fake and avoid fouling. Plus we need to remember how important free throws are late in games. Gorgs would have been an easy foul target for the Mavs.
People are taking extreme positions on Pekovic. Neither extreme seems justified.

Very good points, q. Gorgui is such a poor free thrower, we're susceptible to a hack-a-dieng strategy...gonna be difficult to play him late in close games. Unfortunately, Turiaf isn't any better, so we give up a big advantage at the line if Pek is traded.

With our poor shooting late in games, it might be a blessing to put Gorgui on the line. :)
i don't agree with sitting Gorgi late at all, we were getting killed on the boards, defensively, and for Hummel? what the fuck has he done to earn those minutes and not Gorgi?
