Why are some of you living in fantasy land?
Seriously all the Pek and Martin conversations are complete fantasy. I am highly in favor of both players but even if you aren't its not like anybody better is walking through the door.
Look even if both players were on expiring contracts which they're not there is no way the wolves would be able to get better player to come here. The only way we could get anyone would be drastically overpaying them which wouldn't help with anything for the wolves.
Reasons why nobody would come here.
1. Love is potentially entering his last season with the team and I'm sure without Pek and Martin he is a lot more likely to leave.
2. Without Martin and Pek our team would not look like an attractive destination.
3. Management/ownership doesn't stand in high regards with nba guys, they have never put together a consistent contender despite having chances with two franchise guys in Garnett/Love
4. Minnesota and our Freezing winters have never been an attractive destination for free agents without us overpaying.

It looks like people are just looking for things to complain about. Our fanbase is too used to having terrible teams. Now that we have a team that is decent and improving, people can't quite remember how to act.

Or we could trade for them!

I think that describes the newer fans. But a lot of us here were there in the KG days too. Where we had good teams that could have been great if it wasn't for gross mismanagement. I think fearing a repeat of that experience informs a lot of posters here as well. We have had a lot of decent teams which were mired by bad decisions from the top. I for one don't want to see that happen again.

You may be right on the newer fans and the fear of repeat of mismanagement. That said, putting forth Pek and Martin as the problems on this team is living in another reality IHMO. I have seen much more optimism on the chat boards over the past 5 years than I have on this one over the course of the past 6 months.
Doper, It really looks to me as though people either 1) are so entrenched in the thought that Flip is going to fail or 2) want this team to fail so much.........that people are desperately looking for flaws to point out, instead of pointing out very obvious points like we have a decent team that appears to be getting better. The supporting evidence for us getting better and being decent is all over the place. Still, there seems to be a bunch of consistent posters that will argue with the statement "the sky is blue" if they think that saying that "the sky is blue" secretly means that "the Wolves don't suck."

Let me put it this way. Basketball is the sport I believe the best team wins more often than not as compared to football baseball or hockey. 16 teams make the playoffs. 16! We most likely will not make the playoffs. This team does not work. The obvious flaws are very visible. Will we win a game we likely wouldnt every now and then we we shoot the lights out? Yes. But this team in no way will ever be more than a team that sneaks into the playoffs and is quickly eliminated. Pek, Love and Martin do not work together. Anyone who thinks this team is on its way up is just simply delusional. I would really like to hear what you have to say after next year when Love walks out the door or is traded for pennies on the dollar so we can start this neverending rebuilding act we have been on forever. Anyone who has played basketball knows how very important defense is. You cant win only playing offense. You just cant. And when you have three of the worst defenders at their position it will not work. Martin is worthless, and you cant have two defenders who dont leave there feet protecting the rim. Theres a reason OKC didnt want Martin back.

ok all day. oh wait, I am in reality. open your eyes. we are a .500 team that is about to lose one of the top players in the league cause we cant put a competent team around him. mr eternal optimist, get back to me after we trade love or lose him for nothing. but dont worry, we will win someday right?
