I think he certainly is. That said, I think the Wolves might be better served by a young, aggressive new coach.

I wonder if a guy like George Karl would get more out of this team.

I think he's borderline top 10 right now. I put him in the second group below. He probably makes the cut... maybe?
Popovich.
Rivers.
Vogel.
Carlisle.
Thibodeau.
Spoelstra.
_____________
Stotts.
Hornacek.
D'Antoni.
Jackson.
Brooks.
[Note: I omitted most of the new guys, (e.g., Stevens) because there's just no way of knowing yet.]

Re: Is Adelman a top 10 coach in the league?
I have a hard time evaluating Rivers and Spoelstra, because neither has had to coach a team without stars. Kind of like evaluating Phil Jackson.
I was always a huge Gene Keady fan. Year after year Bobby Knight would have 6-7 McDonald's All Americans on his roster, and Keady might have one if he was lucky, but he would usually play his cross-state rival tough. That's the sign of a good coach.
Oddly enough, I think McHale has demonstrated the ability to get his teams to play better than their talent, especially with the Wolves.

I would say McHale is a better coach at this stage.

Doc Rivers won between 41 and 44 games in four seasons in Orlando.
His leading scorers the first season?
- Darrell Armstrong. Ron Mercer. Chris Gatling. Tariq Abdul-Wahad. John Amaechi. Chucky Atkins. Monty Williams.
Granted, he got Tracy McGrady after that. But, those Orlando teams were built around McGrady and Grant Hill, who was in the middle of his foot problems at that time and never really played.
I think he's legit.

Good point on Doc's Orlando stint. Yeah, he's top 10.
Re: Is Adelman a top 10 coach in the league?
Anywhere from 8-15. But that is mostly based on reputation at this point. I don't see how his top ten talent has given us anything thing this year. I think the key is he the right fit for this team. I think catering the roster to Adelman and his system is a mistake since Adelman is not here for the long run. I would rather they get rid of him now, and try to shake it up while the playoffs are still a possibility.
