I was thinking about the PO teams and almost all have a defensive C. The better ones might provide offense as well, but other than Howard, none really excel at it. You can even be weak on the perimeter if you have that defensive anchor. Guys like Noah, Bogut, Jordan, Lopez, Duncan (in his prime), Hibbert, Gasol all patrol the paint for their teams. Miami and OKC might be the exceptions, but OKC has Ibaka, and Miami doesn't need it.

We've got the best offensive PF in the game, so it just seems logical to have a defensive guy next to him. Pek had a really nice game against the lakers, but the majority of his points could have been scored by any 7 footer. I'll give up 4-6 pts for a guy that can guard the PnR and contest shots. The savings in salary is a huge bonus as well.

If Gorgui (SP?) keeps up his level of play, then PEK will be in play. Klove likes him, fine. We want to solidify a roster, fine as well. But we don't have Duncan/Parker/Ginobli here. Ricky says he wants to stay, but he wants to be in the playoffs, so improvements must be made (work on your shooting, Ricky- that would be an improvement for the team). I think Pek is the logical choice if a trade is made. Who else is there that anyone wants (Klove/Ricky are staying)?

Eric Gordon for Pek doesn't make the wolves better. He's more injury prone then Pek. Also makes like 2-3 million more then Pek. Doesn't really rebound or pass or play defense. He pretty much just scores. Who does that sound like? Oh yea Kevin Martin. So now we have 2 SG who make 20 mil combined and are the same player.

Deng is a better player but it would have to be a sign a trade for him. He's only 28 but I think he's already been in the league almost a decade. That's a lot of wear and tear. You want to be paying him 12 million in 4 years? I wouldn't. I would love Deng if we could get him for a package around Brewer and a pick, but Pek is way to much.

All those negative you posted about Gordon and Deng apply to Pek. Why do you think Pek is so valuable? Pek didn't make half the season before breaking down due to a repetitive injury. Pek doesn't pass well, play defense and most importantly can't create his own shot or score in crunch time. Pek is completely dependent on other players to get his points.

Both Gordon and Deng can create theirs. Deng is also a very good defender as well. I think Deng is much more valuable than Pek, and Gordon is at least a wash with two years less on his deal, and a better fit for our team. Both options give us the bonus of more minutes at C for Gorgui.
