Adelman's Wolves Tenure so far
Re: Adelman's Wolves Tenure so far
Adelman quote of the night: "I don't know how many ways I can say it. You've got to defend down the stretch, you've got to execute, take care of the ball, guys have to make plays. I don't know what else to say."
Deep.
Deep.

My Trade idea. Adelman for Thibodeau straight up. Best move Flip could make.

PHO @ MN 1pt lead for the wolves, PHO last possession of the game, timeout is called. Our coach fails to swap in defense for offense???? I already hit on this last week but how do you come out with Ricky, K. Martin, Brewer, Love, Peck?
Martin can't be on the floor in this spot! Cunningham would be my choice but even Shved would do just fine. I'd also give Dieng the nod over Peck to have shot blocking on the floor, the way Love was playing one could argue Turiaf should have also been in the game over Love for this possession, also adds more shot blocking.
0-10 in games decided by 4pts or less = Our coach's tendency to ignore offense for defense substitutions. I'm not saying make every sub the way I say cause I know everything, but it blows my mind when I see K. Martin on the floor in this spot?????

I can't believe you guys are doubting the HOF coach.
This guy has over 1000 wins under his belt.
He is an offensive genius.
Well....other than calling a play out of a timeout that is!

Doubting him based upon his failure to adjust, his failure to swap O for D. His offense system and sets are fine, but even then he fails to pound opponents when he has match-up's we should be abusing.

If his idea of a good play is Rubio sailing out of bounds and passing into traffic under the rim then he really has gone senile. Then again, Kevin Martin had a great look in the end.

I do see him as a very good offensive coach. When we are executing his offense like we should, it is really fun to watch this team score. But he has never been an effective defensive coach, and in the long run that could doom us to a lower playoff status.
But my biggest problem is that he just looks tired to me out there. I recognize that he has never been a rah rah type guy, but he looks more this year like his ship has sailed. I don't think the medical problems with his wife can be ignored, and that is clearly a priority for him the last year...as it should be.
I look to the Phoenix Suns as an example of what this team could be with a younger, more aggressive coach. I hope we let Rick finish the year and a one and out playoff run, and then bring in a guy who can inspire this team to get to the next level.
If by younger coach you mean younger than Adelman then you're on target as Flip will be the next coach. Book it.

I said this last night to a friend while watching the game. You take a full timeout and the best play you can draw up is a vanilla pick and roll and hope for a switch? That's ridiculous. Ricky made a bad play that cost us, but we should not have been running a pick and roll.
As for Kevin Martin getting a layup, all he did was get the ball and they cleared out. There was no complex or clever screen. They just cleared out.

It's more than simply a play that he drew up. These are plays that the opposition has seen hundreds of times already. Adelmans offense is just as much about the reads the players make as the sets he puts them in. Those reads would have worked just fine except Ricky got in too deep and was afraid to shoot it himself and Martin just sort armed it. Adelman put the team in position to win and he is right about execution lacking although I think the poor shooting was the worst culprit. If Love had even a bad game shooting the Wolves win no problem. unfortunately he had a terrible shooting game.
