Welp Here We Are Again (Wolves vs. Thunder)
Another disappointing Wolves season unless we magically win today and upset the Nuggets. With all this talent we are underperforming once again. I'lll still take this over being at the bottom of the league like we are more used to, I just wish they could live up to the potential just a little bit

I guess we're going to find out if the Sab Magic still works when he tees up the GDT a day early .

This will be my 1st participation in a game thread this season. Have not posted all season due to losing my password, lack of time and disappointment in how the season unfolded. But the playoffs are within reach and losing will be demoralizing as we will gift Utah with a lottery pick. I see us as the favorites in this game but anything can happen in an nba game and a loss will no doubt see major changes next season(finch fired, towns or Gobert or both traded). A win and a competitive series vs the nuggets will probably see us run it back next season.

For all the reasons you mention above, I believe our team will be pressing. OKC is playing with house money and has nothing to lose. I'm expecting a loss for the Wolves unfortunately. They couldn't be trusted all season and I see no reason why they can be tonight.
Sorry to be a downer!

Rudy says he likely wouldn't have played against the Lakers if he hadn't been suspended. I still think that's why TC suspended him...allowed him to make a statement without hurting the team. Unfortunately Rudy says he is still feeling the impacts of the back spasms. I think he'll play, but won't be 100%. Unless he's playing games with the media. Vegas still has us as a 5 1/2 point favorite, but it will be a tougher win if Rudy can't go.

Either way there will be fireworks with the Thunder as our opponent tonight! A celebration win, or with the Thunder having zero size there will be a fury of hate towards Gobert and Connelly if we lose.

I actually think the Wolves come back big especially Ant. He steps up and goes for 40-5-5. The bigger the stage the better Ant is.
I agree with World that if the Wolves do lose or lose in the first round not close (if it's close and at least competitive then I can see an argument) then both KAT and Finch are goners and should be. KAT still has value but it's 8 years already, he's becoming an old man. There is no upside to running him back in this uniform, while a change of scenery does provide upside for him. So I could see another team wanting him. While he has reached his peak here.
Now if we win or are close (at least 2 wins for sure) against the Nuggets then things change, but I see that as improbable.

FWIW what WC team would you really trust in? The Wolves are disappointing in that they could have won 4 more games and been the 4 seed etc. Still the top team in the west won 53 games. Looking back at our prediction thread that was what Q posted was the median number for our predictions.
This was a frustrating team but again there were lots of WC teams that were not exactly reliable. The Wolves did have some guys that stayed healthy including Edwards McDaniels (if we lose games after the season’s end it will be worth mentioning he won’t have played in those games) and a combined only handful of games from the starting PGs both of whom are injury risk players. Meanwhile Towns missed over 50 games McLaughlin missed a ton, Prince missed nearly 30 games Naz was out down the stretch and for games past the season’s end. Other teams also had and have injuries but let’s not lose sight of the impact those have on the roster.
Meanwhile at this point can the Wolves pull themselves together and win this game and get to an actual playoff series? Idk. Obviously they are capable of winning or losing. OKC is a fairly good team themselves. Hopefully the Wolves can overcome missing some players and being beat up and prevail. I probably won’t be able to watch till tomorrow afternoon

Re: Welp Here We Are Again (Wolves vs. Thunder)
This is the biggest game of the season for us and a lot of the guys on the team. No question we got fleeced with the Gobert trade( I dont see Gobert making an all star team again in his career). Lose this game and the fanbase is demoralized. The team continue to be a laughing stock of the league. No ping pong balls as justification or fallback for losing. Connelly’s reputation will be in the toilet. Finch will get fired, Towns traded, Gobert blamed and ridiculed more and ownership (old and new) looks like same old incompetent idiots. Negativity will cloud the whole team.
Win the game and be competitive in round one or dare I say win a series in the playoffs then the excuses and justifications are suddenly reasonable. The narrative is easier to control and spin. Finch keeps his job and Connelly his reputation away from the toilet for the meantime. Towns is safe and we buy ourselves more time to make this work.
With all that said, I am predicting we blowout the thunder. Go wolves!
