I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, anyone who thinks the *know* this “two big” roster can’t work, I’ll just point out the starting five of Conley, KAT, Rudy, Jaden and Ant only played 7 games together for a total of 75 minutes. Run it back.
That said, I’d do this OKC trade in a heartbeat, lol
KAT trade ideas
Re: KAT trade ideas
Ha, I like how the article states that one of the reasons a trade to the Knicks might work is because KAT would be re-united with Thibs. Bwahahahahah!!! Yes, KAT must just relish the opportunity to play for him again!Carlos Danger wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 11:29 am I saw this come through my feed a couple days ago:

Re: KAT trade ideas
Man, I feel like we undervalue our own players more than the actual market does. Grant and Sharpe OR picks!?! There at least has to be an "and" in that sentence!TheFuture wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 1:34 am I would try to work out one of these deals:
A S&T deal with Portland for Jerami Grant and Sharpe or picks.
With Toronto for a S&T extension of O.G, Chris Boucher, and Delano Banton.
With OKC for Dort, Giddey, and Jaylen Williams.
(A 3 way deal for Kessler, Vando, Beasley, 4 first rounders)
I think OKC just stands pat for now. Although at some point, they may have to cash in some of their young talent/future 1sts to help out SGA more. He got a taste of playoff basketball his first two seasons, but since becoming "the man" in OKC three seasons ago, it's been nothing. We were the only team that stood between them and a playoff series this season, so may be they feel they can finally take that next step next year without adding another key vet piece.
Nice touch on the last one you have in parentheses!

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there would be a market for KAT in a trade. If TC can get several teams bidding, hek yeah trade him to the highest bidder.Carlos Danger wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 11:29 am I saw this come through my feed a couple days ago:

Yeah, and they were quite good in those 75 minutes with a net rating of +6.4. Even better, in the 9 games after KAT returned (his first chance to play with Conley) the Wolves went 6-3...primarily playing against playoff teams. And KAT especially flourished next to Conley, as they has a net rating of +11.8 in their 164 minutes together (he was a -4.8 paired with DLo).Sundog wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 11:56 am I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, anyone who thinks the *know* this “two big” roster can’t work, I’ll just point out the starting five of Conley, KAT, Rudy, Jaden and Ant only played 7 games together for a total of 75 minutes. I'm not saying TC won't make a deal involving KAT or Gobert this offseason, but based on what he saw from our year-end starting lineup, any offer would have to blow him away. And the offers listed here and in the Gobert thread are far from that. Finchie and TC have to be intrigued by what they saw after Conley and NAW came on board, and I think it's highly unlikely they will do any deals involving our five starters.

I think you always listen to offers. If someone wants to over pay (like we did with Gobert) you make the deal. If not, you stay the course.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 2:48 pmMaybe I'm wrong. Maybe there would be a market for KAT in a trade. KAT is a better player than we saw this year - and in the play offs. He put up over 5 VORP in each of his age 21, 22 and 23 seasons. That's a very good player. KG's best years he put up 6 to 10 VORP per year. That's a whole different level (HOF). KAT is NOT at that level. He will be best suited as a #2 option, so we have to hope Edwards becomes the super star we hope he will become.
Re: KAT trade ideas
The issue with KAT is himself. You cannot force that change. You cannot be paying an offensive guy 40 mil a year who gets in stupid foul trouble in every big game and doesn't get upset about only taking 9 shots in a game. With how talented he is offensively he should never not be around 20 shots a game. He just refuses to command that for himself or from his team. Remember, Jimmy did not have an issue with Thibs or Wiggins.. it was KAT. KaT simply is not worth the money due in large part to his own personality.
As for his trade value, every fan overestimates their players value. I don't think KAT is viewed as highly as many might expect. It is very hard to compete in this league with a C who has no clue on defense. Other FOs know this. I thought my proposals were not far off-base +/- picks.
Heat, Celtics, 76ers, Knicks, Nuggets, Lakers, Warriors, Suns.
7/8 of those teams have a clear smart defensive rim force and the rest is built outside.

Re: KAT trade ideas
KAT as a Wolf never has lived up to his potential or talent, but a change could only really help, which is why I think some team would give up a decent return for him. I honestly think it's both for best to move on. Some other franchise can get the most out of him and we can build around Ant and the returning players from the KAT trade. KAT is never going to change here I don't think. It's been 8 years already. It would be beyond insane to expect more under the same circumstances. Change is needed.TheFuture wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 7:31 pm The issue with KAT is himself. You cannot force that change. Ask me 3 days ago, it’s a hard sell for me
Now….nostalgia kicked in after reading Souhan’s, of all people, star trib article…
But the soft spot is on what he could be, not what he currently is….
I imagine there are many around the association whom see what if, as it must be the team he’s playing for that’s the problem….well part of that statement may be true…
He’s a good human being, but when he’s between the lines, he gets in his own way far too often….let us see what we can get….I’d do Mikal Bridges and filler for Towns. Could you imagine Jaden and Bridges locking down every wing in the league? Sign me up
