I would call Atlanta and offer them this:

KAT
JMac
23' 2nd

For

Murray
Bruno Fernando
Jalen Johnson
AJ Griffin
Sharife Cooper
#15

Atlanta pairs Young with KAT. Keeps okongwu, capela, and Collins as their other bigs. Has Bogdanovic, hunter, bey, matthews as their wings/guards.

If they say no, then say good luck.

Young/?/Jmac
Bogdanovic/Matthews
Hunter/Bey
KAT/Collins
Capela/Okongwu

That's not a bad team if Young and KAT are utilized right.

Murray/Conley
ANT/NAW
Jaden/Prince
Reid/Anderson
Rudy/Fernando

Johnson, Griffin, Cooper, Moore, Minott, #15, Garza or Knight to round it out.

Defense all over and enough scoring ability.

Hey! This is the "run it back" thread. Not the trade KAT thread... ;)

The Wolves will spend all or a portion of their 18 mil in luxury tax space this year to "tweak" their roster (re-sign NAW, backup PG, Naz or a Naz replacement), but will do so without committing any guaranteed money for 2024-25 (unless it is a vet minimum deal). That will create the flexibility to run it back again in 2024-25 with the core 4 of KAT, Rudy, ANT and Jaden and still have a chance to be under the luxury tax threshold.

That would be the way to do it, Tim.

Ok, that's fair. Run it back.

Then talk about it next year.

Then talk about it next year when 90 mil is tied up in 2 centers. And every other player is looking for an extension.

What world are you living in? With Kat, Gobert, Ant, Jaden you're looking at the cap beginning next off-season. That is 4 fucking players and nobody knows how they even fit. No conley, no prince, no naz, no NAW, no Anderson. You don't replace that type of backup play in Minnesota on a whim. I don't understand how some here don't understand that a big change needs to happen now. There are too many looming extensions and the franchises new buyer struggles with money already.

While I don't disagree that this offseason may be the best time to make a big move, your confidence that it MUST HAPPEN NOW goes against what the guys who follow this team for a living have said (Jonny K. for example). There are other windows of opportunity to make trades and changes beyond this offseason.

This is correct, it’s the same thing as Naz this year. The wolves have until the trade deadline in those years to get under the tax. Even though I’m on the Kat value might be the highest it can get right now they don’t technically need to get under the 2nd tax line until next trade deadline (in theory if the team showed title potential they could eat that 2nd tax line for 1 year).
