I wish Prince well. I’d guess he will have plenty of interest although he might not get paid what he did before especially if he wants to play for a good playoff team. He would be a nice pickup for a team that had the tax payer mid-level to spend.

For a wolves fan who has seen some crappy players it’s kinda wild we are able to let go of Prince on a reasonable deal and pursue someone else. There were years Prince would have been a good starter (compared to other options) on the Wolves roster.

If you leave other aspects out of the deals (draft picks) remember that Dieng was traded for that guy from the heat and then the Wolves traded him for Rubio and then they traded Rubio for Prince. There was some legit good moves in that trade line.

Gonna be interesting to see what the Wolves pull off now with the financial flexibility they have.
Yeah, he's going to end up on a very good team, as his value probably increases with the quality of players around him. He's become super reliable on the corner 3 and is big enough to guard 3s and 4s and at least not hemorrhage points.

I have to believe the Wolves want to re-invest that money in a vet guard that can give them back court depth.

So, as the day comes to a close, tomorrow will provide a whole new batch of information:

- Do the Wolves guarantee Nate's contract? I suspect the answer will be no.
- Do the Wolves extend the 7 mil QO to NAW? Again, I suspect the answer is no. They may still re-sign him at a less $s, but it sure seems like they won't risk committing 7 mil next year to him.
- Do Garaz and Ryan have two-way QO's extended? My guess is the answer is yes on both of them. It doesn't affect cap space, and they can always waive the player if they find someone else they would rather use a two-way on, which is what happened last year to AC Law and that other big guy. Garza was pretty darn good and fills a need. And with Prince gone, Ryan fills a need as well.

Wouldn't mind seeing Garza on the squad again. The guy can flat out score. He's the type of player that would probably get played off the floor in a playoff series for defensive reasons, but he could be valuable in the dog days of the regular season when the Wolves and their opponents have guys hurt or resting and they reach into the depths of their rosters. He's going to win those matchups against opposing teams' 3rd string bigs.

Agree with you on Garza, Q. I wouldn’t be surprised if another team swooped in and offered Garza a regular NBA contract. If not, I would hope the Wolves keep him on a two-way.

I agree with your prognostications, Tim.

This is a very good move by TC. I've always liked Prince, but I don't think there is another player on the roster where my eye test is so far off from his advanced analytics. To Q's point, Taurean has always been a terrific corner three shooter, and that's what I remember fondly when I think of what he brought us. But most of his numbers are not very good...below average rebounder and facilitator. And while he seemed to be very active on defense, his defensive numbers have never been very good. Finally, his track record of staying healthy is very bad...he only played 54 games last year, and has averaged only 60 per year for his career. Put all of this together, and it's not surprising he had a negative net rating of -9 last year (-10 for his career) and a negative VORP of -.4. Good on TC to recognize there were far better ways to use that $7 million.

Dane Moore is reporting that the Wolves extending two-way QOs to both Garza and Ryan. Seems like a reasonable move.

I'm kind of scratching my head a bit with Matt Ryan, but then I look at our small forward depth with Prince gone and realize that we probably need a minimally viable bench option with some prior NBA experience and a decent 3 point shot.

Garza totally makes sense, but he really shouldn't spend time in the G-League unless it's meant to keep him in game shape. He'll learn nothing down there that he doesn't already know.

With TP being released this off-season gets a lot more exciting. I wouldn't have minded keeping him around, I like having roster continuity as it gives the guys more familiarity.

I would like to see the Wolves target a floor general backup PG (Rubio round 3?). I also wouldn't mind bringing back Pat Bev on a minimum deal

Couple of on the 2 way contracts.

They are all not gautanteed so there is no harm offering Ryan a contract. Super easy to cut Ryan and add another player on a 2 way if someone balls out this summer. There is no risk.

There are 3 2-way contracts this year.

New rule if you have only 14 rostered players this year, your 2-way guys can only be active for 90% of the games. It’s a small detail but it’s a detail
