I thought since Lip has been watching some video on him and depending on how FA shakes out we may need Moore this season…or he could be a minor trade chip in a trade but it might be fun to look at his game. I’ve watched a bit of video on him again. Q watched him in the G-league the most of anyone here. Unless Moore gets moved before there we will have some more data points soon as he will be playing in Summer league. I’m gonna try again and find a complete game and give some more thoughts on what I see as the resident Moore fan club president. lol
One thing I’ll saw about Moore is it’s possible that the Wolves have seen enough and are very willing to move him in a deal or feel like he might be an ok player but would be totally fine giving him up in a deal. What I’ve always liked about him is I think he has potential to play 1-3 and he has a strong base so it feels like he may be able to put up some resistance if he gets switched onto a big.
Wendell Moore Jr
Re: Wendell Moore Jr
Moore Jr.'s main asset is he has literally no weaknesses. Moore Jr.'s main liability is he has literally no strengths.
I think if he gets his feet wet a bit more with NBA-caliber competition (vs. G-League), may be he can become a low-risk cog that doesn't help you or hurt you much. May be Austin Rivers is his ceiling or something like that??

Re: Wendell Moore Jr
Good stuff Q. Moore is bigger than Rivers but I agree with where you are going. Moore isn’t a guy that in general plays with flash. I’d say that if Moore can play as a guard he would have physical size as a strength with his 7’ wingspan. That’s yet to be determined.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 12:53 pm Moore Jr.'s main asset is he has literally no weaknesses. Moore Jr.'s main liability is he has literally no strengths.

Re: Wendell Moore Jr
If Moore can't find some playing time this year with our lack of depth at guards that is a bad sign for his long term development.
Re: Wendell Moore Jr
Well after free agent signings I don’t think this is the case anymore.

The reality is that unless there are injuries he probably doesn’t play much unless he has really developed.
Re: Wendell Moore Jr
Which implies the Wolves will not pick up his 2024-25 option come next October, taking his $s off the books.
Re: Wendell Moore Jr
After watching a bit of video on Moore before FA hit I have a few takes.
For anyone that wants to watch more compete game type action for Moore or any of the other Iowa Wolves the Iowa Wolves YouTube has condensed games that are around 15 mins long so it’s a bit better idea of how games are flowing than the 7-9 minute highlights I found otherwise.
One thing that stood out even in the NBA highlight real the Timberwolves sent out of his NBA time was a couple times he was actually pretty fast with the ball coming up the court. Moore isn’t a guy that always plays fast but I like that he has that in him especially since he has some nice size and length.
Moore shows some nice passing skills. Nobody is gonna claim his is some passing wizard like Rubio but he makes some nice drive and kick plays or whipping passes to guys in the corner. It’s a little like watching NAW on some of his plays he has although of course in Iowa Moore is playing more on the ball. It’s worth mentioning that Moore averaged 4 assists a game and was playing a lot of minutes with another PG Mudiay or Carton. It looks like he played quite a bit of PG but obviously wasn’t the guy all the time either. Having guys that can play on and off the ball at that spot can be pretty valuable.
Defense in Iowa kinda hard to tell when watching this type of videos. Not really impressive but he certainly had some positives while playing NBA minutes. That Iowa Wolves team was pretty bad on D so I’m not sure what you can take from that.
There may be more to take away from whatI saw but with the roster the way it is now and summer league coming up let’s see what Moore does in Vegas and go from there. Last year I still liked Bolmaro but after seeing how he did in SL play I was like…yeah not too disappointed that we traded him away. I had been ok with him moved anyway since we had drafted Moore who was also a potential versatile perimeter player. Hopefully Moore looks better than Bolmaro did last SL! Lol Not only do we hope that Moore develops into something useful that would also keep the Wolves from basically having to pay to get rid of him like other teams have done with draft picks over the years.

Re: Wendell Moore Jr
It’s like 2.5 million. He is gonna have to look really bad for them not to pick up that option. That’s basically a few hundred grand more than a vet min deal. The following option for over 4.5 million in 2025-2026 that will certainly be more in jeopardy.60WinTim wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 12:07 pmWhich implies the Wolves will not pick up his 2024-25 option come next October, taking his $s off the books.
Re: Wendell Moore Jr
I agree Monster. Moore is a bargain contract. He’s a solid, high IQ player who likely won’t be a liability. As you said, he’d have to look really bad for the Wolves not pick up his option. The Wolves included team options in the Troy Brown and Shake Milton contracts for a reason. Those two will have to make a compelling case through their play next season for the Wolves to keep them, although moving KAT or Rudy by the deadline or next summer could open the door to bringing them all back.Monster wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 12:24 pmIt’s like 2.5 million.
