This is mostly expected but it’s good to see him sign that deal and have him locked in. Based on what we saw last year that was a nice move bringing in Garza to training camp last year. You never know who might end up being worthwhile.

The question of the roster now is what do the wolves do with Clark? Sign him to a 2-way deal or to an actual NBA deal? I wonder how long both sides would be willing to wait to decide that. What of someone knocks their socks off in summer league and they want to sign them to a Gupta special? What about if someone impresses in training camp? Clark isn’t gonna be playing regardless so I mean there isn’t a deadline there. It seems like a 2-way deal for him makes more sense in terms of flexibility but I don’t have the salary numbers yet. Also I guess if the guy they wanted to sign was also a rookie they could easily fit him in since they would be so cheap. Man that would be a lot of young dudes! Lol

Yeah, I think the mild concern was a team could offer him a standard NBA contract, which the Wolves could match, but they would need a roster space to accommodate him. No need to keep the roster spot open now, although I suspect we will leave it open all the way through the trade deadline.

Next up is Matt Ryan. He might hold off to see if another team might offer him a contract somewhere down the road. But I kind of expect that not to happen and he will be our 2nd 2-way.

Happy to see Luka back on a 2way. Handy player to have come in if we are down a couple of front court players.

Did I read that you are now allowed three 2way contracted players?

Do Wolves any options where they don't have to burn a roster spot on Clark, yet maintain his rights? I suppose if he signed to play for an international team, that might be the case, but if he's injured would there even be any incentive for any international team to do so unless it was to a multi-year deal and they have roster space to burn.

I was actually wondering that too. It seemed like a few years ago there was a player in a similar situation but I can’t remember who it was. Below link explains how long a team keeps drafted player’s rights which is interesting.

Basically they would hold his rights for a year without him signing a deal. Maybe he could sign a g-league contract to make a few bucks. It would seem a little tough to be like yeah we drafted you but live on not much money till next year then we will sign you to an NBA deal. Seems like a possible wink wink thing not that it is but yeah. Idk how much support NBA teams can give a guy that’s technically not even under contract. I would think they would want to have him there all the time for rehab around one of their rosters etc.

Some links to stuff of Luka. Maybe he won’t be able to make it but he seems like a great guy and is doing everything possible to get the most out of his talent and his body.

Tweet from his Dad, Frank’s account with video of Luka workouts.

Interview with local DC media where Garza is from. There is an amusing pic in this video.

Wow! I feel much more confident trading KAT knowing Garza can step in and fill his shoes! A Naz-like body transformation. And an ability to score both inside and out.

But who the heck thought Matt Ryan looked like Luka Garza?!?

(PS. I heard Luka is trying to get a restrain order against you stalking him! ;) )
