Sure I’ll explain. Offensively Morris might be ok as a guy next to Edwards that doesn’t do too much. His 3 point volume which you mentioned isn’t very high and in general he isn’t a guy that is looking to score a lot kinda like Tyus was for much of his career. Maybe a I am wrong but it doesn’t sound like Morris is very good defensively. If he was ok on that end and was a moderate asset on offense fine but if his defense is sort of a problem then Morris is a good backup PG that can fill in as a starter for a while and that’s simply not gonna be good enough. We have debated whether Tyus Jones is actually good enough to be the guy next to Edwards and he has at times ramped up his scoring and I’m pretty certain he is a better defender maybe significantly.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 1:05 pmI was wondering the same thing. I think of Edwards in the mold of MJ, Kobe and Dwayne Wade - i.e. as our ball dominant guard. Morris seems like the perfect fit next to him - a low-volume high caliber perimeter shooter like Kerr, Paxon but better ball-handling and passing skills.AbeVigodaLive wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 12:52 pm Just curious Monster... why do you think Morris and Edwards might not work?
Morris is a low-usage, solid shooting caretaker type. Seems like a good match in my book, but to be fair I only thought about it for like 4 seconds.
P.S. Sorry to mention Kobe again, Abe.![]()
Let’s be honest if people really thought Morris was the answer at PG next to Edwards we would have had people pounding the table for the guy. That might be all we need to know the fact that nobody on this forum has really done that. I think we know what Morris is…and isn’t and again this is coming from a guy that liked him going back to his days at Iowa State and I scratched my head a bit when he wasn’t valued more highly in that draft.
Will Shake Milton be that guy? Honestly probably not but he cost basically half as much money and didn’t cost a 2nd round pick or more to acquire. Morris is certainly a more known commodity. On the other hand Connelly is taking a few swings on fairly cheap guys that are younger (Shake isn’t much young that Morris but hasn’t had the opportunity) and therefore a chance to be guys that stick for a few years.
