Zach LaVine On the Move

Post by Lipoli390 »

“Stuck in NBA no man’s land, it would seem like the Zach LaVine smoke exists because the Bulls recognize trading him could be one of their only paths to aggressively retooling and reshaping the roster. PhillyVoice was told pre-draft that the Bulls were setting a reasonably high price for Zach LaVine, hoping to acquire a young player with upside and multiple picks, sources said.”

I like Zach. He’s a really good player. But he’s not unique. I don’t see him garnering the sort of return the Bulls are apparently seeking.

Scoring guards without elite handles and/or playmaking are understandably dropping in value every year, I agree Lip

Lavine is a near 25ppg scorer and does it efficiently. He likely sucks on defense but it makes sense for the Bulls to but a “Reasonably high value” on him or what would be the point of trading him?

To me the uniqueness of Lavine is how many teams are like the Bulls where they need a high usage SG? For what it would cost to acquire him I’m not wanting him next to Edwards. So it may take a bit of a “unique” situation for Lavine to provide value to the team acquiring him and then in return getting that value back to the Bulls. It does make sense for them to explore what might be out there.

Yeah, LaVine is one of these really talented players that is hard to build around. He's not good enough to really carry or lead a team, but he is good enough to command a lot of shots and play a prominent role in the offense, for better or worse.
