NBA Player Poll

Just read this in The Athletic today. It’s a fairly recent anonymous poll of players on a range of questions. A very interesting read. Here are some notable Wolves-relevant tidbits from the poll:

1. Jaden McDaniels made the list of best defenders and most underrated players. I think this is especially telling given the fact that the Wolves haven’t been a winner and don’t get much media attention. Even more telling that he appeared on these two lists while no other Timberwolves player appeared on any other list. Jaden has certainly earned respect among his peers.

2. Gobert did not make the list of best defenders after being identified among the best in a prior poll back in 2019.

3. Gobert also appeared among those in the most overrated list.

4. Ant appeared in the most underrated list.

5. KAT didn’t appear on any of the lists. Respect for KAT among players has clearly declined significantly over the past 5 years. Part of that is being on a perennial loser for so long. Another part of that is his recent string of injuries. But I’m sure another part of it is his attitude recently - too much talk off the court and whining on the court. I’m just speculating, because the article did not including any player comments on KAT. It didn’t include any comments on any other Timberwolves player either.

Thanks for posting Lip.

Target Center didn’t make the best or the worst list. I’ll take that as a win. Lol

Lol. I’ll admit I was surprised it didn’t make the worst list. Maybe playing in Target Center makes such a small impression that players just forget about it entirely. :)

Well the worst was for fans.

Surprised you didn’t mention Thibs winning the least wanting to play for coach award.

I meant to mention that. :). It was probably by far the most predictable result of the poll.
