If Ant’s play or development will depend even slightly on having Austin Rivers on the roster, then Ant and this franchise are in trouble. I might feel differently if this were Ant’s rookie season or even his second season. But he’s entering his 4th season. Yes, he’s still young. But he’s had three seasons of experience as a Wolves starter with solid older vets like Beverley, Prince and Anderson around him during those seasons. That’s a lot more veteran mentorship than Jokic, Jamal Murray, Giannis, MJ or LeBron had when they came into the League.

If Ant’s going to be our #1 then he has to be self-motivated and driven internally to do the right things and play the right way. It was a bad sign when he came to camp out of shape last fall. But hopefully he’s learned his lesson and by all accounts, including his own, he has. There’s no doubting Ant’s incredible talent and potential. So far so good. Only time will tell us whether we have another MJ/Giannis/Jokic/Wade/LeBron/Murray or another James Harden/Kyrie Irving.

In my view, whether Austin Rivers is on the Wolves roster next season is totally irrelevant to the success or failure of Edwards and the Wolves. What matters is who the Wolves starting PG will be for the 20 games Mike Conley misses. If it’s Rivers, we’re in big trouble.

Lip I agree with the point you made. But, Jamal Murray? Just see him several tiers below all the other guys listed as who we want Ant to become like and I would be very disappointed in Ant if that's what he becomes. In fact, Kyrie is so much more talented than Jamal but yeah he's a flake, but he has won a title too.

Murray is an all-star caliber player who gets the most out of himself. It’s about players maximizing the talent they have. Murray is a player who is driven from within to get the most out of himself. He proved that with his play and how he are back strong from his ACL surgery. Edwards is obviously more talented than Murray. I could have mentioned Pat Beverley - a second round pick who willed himself through his own competitive drive into becoming a consequential NBA player with limited talent.

Totally different environment at Cox Pavilion than Friday with fans not worrying about not getting a seat at T&M to see Wemby. Full house...actually had to ask people to slide over so we could sit together. High energy game with lots of enthusiasm on the court and on the bench. The atmosphere is more like a high school game than a pro game...when do you ever hear the bench clapping a "D-fense" chant in unison? As for the game, while I'm not a big Moore Jr. fan, I think we win this game if he plays. He provides at least some semblance of a 3-point threat, and I think he would have limited George. Also, it might have kept Cooke and his horrible 0-4 and -11 on the bench. But even worse were the absurd 5 minutes from Galloway...it actually looked like they inserted a junior high kid in to the game just for fun. He was totally lost out there! I didn't think it was possible to put up a -18 in 5 minutes, but Galloway did it!

Once again the Wolves roster showed up in the front row. JMac and NAW and their gals, Glen and his gal Becky, and Unibrow Luka Garza and his date Matt Ryan. Plus every coach who was not working the game. We left with 2 minutes to go to avoid the transportation disaster we faced Friday night, so we missed what sounds like very poor play by M&M. (Travel tip: skip the taxi line if you go to a summer league game, and go right to the uber area instead). I'm still impressed by both, although neither was very effective on the boards last night. Miller seems confident with his shot, and Minott cuts to the basket better than anyone on our roster. I don't think we will need either of them in the regular rotation barring injuries, but they both will be ready to contribute if needed.

Time to pack up and go...

Yeah, I was really impressed by Murray during their title run. His shot-making was elite. And his defense is actually pretty solid too for someone that doesn't have elite size or athleticism.

Ant has an absolutely lethal combination of size, strength and athleticism for an NBA 2-guard - pretty much unmatched right now. It's all down to his skill development, mental approach, and how he takes care of his body.

Glad you got to go, FNG. Sounds like a good time. And thanks for the reports. Love hearing about the Wolves in attendance and what they’re doing. Safe travels.
