Just finished watching the game and reading through the thread.
Hunt did some good things out here and Adam’s did as well. Carton was solid. I agree Cook was bad.
Yes Miller and Minott looked bad late but part of that was because the Wolves were trying to make a play to get back in the game. One of the issues with Minott is I’m not sure what offensive game he has outside of the paint. Even if he can shoot 3’s decently I’m not entirely sure he will have much off the dribble. The good news is that his game otherwise works fine as a bench guy. I do think he has more upside than Brandon Clarke but let’s be honest if he becomes as good of a player as Clarke I’ll be pretty happy.
Meanwhile Miller had another nice game. He did have some moments to temper the enthusiasm but he looks like a nice young player with a variety of skills.
Brandon Williams had another solid game. He missed some shots I would have liked to see him finish but he also had 7 assists and zero turnovers.
Disappointed that Moore wasn’t able to play. Like others have said it would have been interesting to see him D up George. Not exactly high praise but I feel confident in saying Moore is better than at least half the other guys the Wolves played in this game. Lol
This loss probably takes the Wolves out of contention for the championship and those nifty rings.
Just looked up George’s college stats. He wasn’t a good shooter there. Just ok shooting the 3 and shot just 42% on 2 point shots en route to under 38% FG shooting. Except for one bad game he has been hitting his shots in SL so far. Like Q asked earlier can he defend? No idea.

Re: Summer league GDT 2
Too bad about Moore Jr. I really was looking forward to seeing him play significant minutes to see where his game is at. I wonder if the knee has been bothering him for a while (including the first game?) or if it was new/just happened.
Re: Summer league GDT 2
I didn't know a thing about George other than he was the guy Denver selected with the pick we traded. Hard to believe he's been a mediocre shooter given how smooth he looked last night. His form looked excellent and he moved really well without the ball too. Sorry to say it, but Minott struggled to contain him in the possessions he was guarding him.Monster wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 7:12 am Just finished watching the game and reading through the thread.

The key with Brandon Williams, as is the case with nearly every promising or potential prospect in the history of the Wolves is, can he hit the 3 consistently? Everything else with him looks really solid.

I’d like to see Williams matched up with another PG guy defensively. I haven’t seen anything concerning on that end just sayin.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 10:49 amI didn't know a thing about George other than he was the guy Denver selected with the pick we traded. His shot looks fine but from 3 it doesn’t look super fluid. Concerning? No but like you said that’s a big thing and that goes for a bunch of guys across the league. Meanwhile after a nice first game with the Cavs in Vegas Sharife Cooper in the following 2 game’s statistically dropped off considerably.
Re: Summer league GDT 2
I got back just in time last night to catch the game. I've also had a chance to go back and watch the first game. While Moore may not be standing out, the drop off from when he was not available in the 2nd game was dramatic.
I was hopeful Minott would show us a bit more shooting, but it has not been on display. Which may be another reason the Wolves will keep Matt Ryan on his 2-way (assuming he accepts it). While Brandon Williams has done some nice things out there, I don't think it's enough to warrant a 2-way contract considering the Wolves are already using their three 2-way contracts.
I love what Miller has displayed. But it seems he merely replaces Nate's role this coming year, but with potential to be something more down the road (which may even be this season, depending on injuries or trades).
Did anyone catch Finchy's comment on getting Kyle his minutes? They want to reduce his minutes into the mid-20s. But not less than 20 which could happen if Rudy, KAT and Naz are all getting their minutes. So he may need to play a bit more at SF, or perhaps PG...

Re: Summer league GDT 2
Yeah, I heard that they intend to cut Kyle's minutes some. Hopefully, not too much as he has been one of most productive and versatile players on the team. I'm real curious to find out how the minute distribution will be handed out now that it appears we have more quality depth than ever. I'd think Mike's minutes get reduced a bit and/or he sits out a few more games for rest purposes as we have the depth to withstand it. I also hope KAT gets more rest or reduced minutesl to keep him healthy, plus we now want to give Naz more minutes.
Re: Summer league GDT 2
The Wolves were fortunate that Anderson held up as well as he did playing the minutes he did when Towns was out. There was only one other season he has played more minutes and that was for the Spurs. It’s good they will be playing him fewer minutes. As long as he is healthy his minutes aren’t going to go down too drastically. Dane and Finch talked about minutes for everyone and they talked about finishing games and both guys mentioned…oh wait Kyle Anderson. Yeah he is highly valued by Finch.
I like Tim’s thought about how Miller could kinda take on Knight’s role on the team but with obviously more potential. I could see Garza getting more minutes than Miller but Miller is more similar to Knight.
I also think Tim makes a good point about Matt Ryan’s shooting being an asset. I don’t think there is much concern about a team sweeping in and giving him an NBA contract and that’s just fine. Let’s see what Williams does the rest of SL. Maybe he is a guy that they sign to basically a training camp deal with a real chance to make the roster. On the other hand there could be 5 or 15 other SL guys that are more impressive…or some other player a team lets go that is a better option. I do like Williams but I’m not sold on him being a no-brained guy we need to sign one way ot another to the roster. We also IMO don’t have to keep Matt Ryan either but I do think he can bring value to this roster.

Re: Summer league GDT 2
I hope we can get Brandon Williams to play for our G League team as he seems to have chemistry with Moore, Miller and Minott. I think Mudiay has been Iowa's starting point guard and he hasn't done all that well considering that Iowa hasn't fared well with him at the helm. TC actually drafted Mudiay 5th overall in the KAT draft ahead of Devin Booker, Myles Turner and Terry Rozier. While I like TC's overall drafting so far, he can surely hit some klunkers too.

Re: Summer league GDT 2
Slomo's back was problematic off and on last year and I'm sure that's at least part of wanting to keep his minutes down. I'd much rather see guys reduce their court time than miss games due to load management. If you need some rest, take it in games but at least be available.
