Yep. With a team with a lot of injury prone players, I would have liked our 11-14 to show something this summer. That does not mean they can’t turn into something but minott not progressing is concerning
The other implication it has is if we wanted to make a big move with Rudy or KAT, I am far less confident in "the second timeline" frontline guys being ready to fill in bigger roles.
I think we’re seeing part of why TC seems committed to keeping both Rudy and KAT next season. Just watching their G-League highlights indicated to me that we couldn’t depend on Minott or Miller next season even though they both had very good G-League stats. They’re both too raw. But they’re both physically gifted and appear to have high-octane motors and lots of competitive drive. I know, so did Okogie. So no doubt both of them could end up being nothing more than shiny objects as Cool likes to say and we may find a year or two from now that there’s nothing behind the shine on one or both of them. But right now it’s way too early to worry about either one. Let’s see what they look like after another 20 G-League games before we start sounding any alarm bells.

I'm still very pumped about Miller. He's young and he'll have some up and down games. He had several shots rim out tonight so with better luck his shooting wouldn't have been so bad. I like his motor and his attitude and I think he's going to develop with time. I heard he is a real student of the game and he learns from his mistakes.

I never was that high on Moore, so I don't think he changed my mind. I wasn't as high as most on Minott, but I was a tad disappointed he didn't show much growth since a year ago. Neither guy should play if our rotation guys stay healthy, and maybe their poor play will humble them enough to be open to coaching. Can we get Minott some one on one shooting coaching. He needs work on his shot badly.

I actually have more confidence in Minott's ability to be a 33% or better 3-pt shooter than becoming an even average defender. I think his downfall may actually be on the defensive side believe it or not. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if his shot never comes around either given this franchise's nightmare-ish history in developing shooters.

I'm not sure what to think of Miller. I like his motor. I like his overall build too. He has a great frame to add more weight and strength. Defensively, I'm concerned. Lots of guys getting easy layups with him playing Center. Where was he? Offensively, not sure what his bread and butter is.

I don't want to get all critical with him like I have been with Minott because it's his first summer league, but let's just say I'm neutral on Miller for now.

Ha, I've definitely sobered up since the beginning of Summer League!

I don't see Miller as a center and I think he's been a mixed bag on defense. Maybe he's out of position but he seems like he cares and tries. He can block shots. He hustles for rebounds. He just needs coaching and time and adjusting to his body and I think he'll eventually become a decent defender.

Lol, c’mon you guys! Every year we seem to forget that the first rule of summer league is “thou shalt draw no hard and fast opinions of any players based on summer league.” It features a fun, weird, clunk, fast kind of game, kind of an extended pro-am tournament. Some guys and some teams thrive in that environment, some don’t, but it doesn’t matter in any meaningful way. Maybe you’ll turn out to be right right that Minott, Moore, Miller belong on the dung heap of NBA basketball, maybe you’re wrong… but it’s just freaking summer league.

Yucky yuck that was an ugly game.

Positives

DJ Carton again had a stretch of really impressive defense. It tailed off in the 2nd half but that could be from getting knees in the thigh and or the fact that he was pretty much the entire offense with Williams out and Moore giving him no help. I actually expected Carton to flash more on offense in summer league but if he can actually defend at a high level he has a shot at getting onto an NBA roster or at least a couple 10 day contracts.

Moore and Minott made some 3’s

The team played hard and played with lots of energy.

Cook has rounded out into a guy that’s been playing like he actually deserves minutes.

Hunt had another game where he was more of a positive than negative. Still was a bit of a mixed bag but he is a bench guy in SL.

Negatives…I’ll try to keep this short.

Minott with several terrible close outs. I get sometimes he can actually block jumpers with his length but if he wants to become a legit good defender you need to close out well. This summer league has overall been disappointing.

Miller looked weak at times out there falling down etc.

Moore looked terrible. He does do well in transition scoring. His box score looks infinitely better than he looked in the game.

It was kinda hard to even keep watching this game horrendous turnovers sloppy play almost nobody could do anything to score.

Maybe so, but he barely played so it's a really small sample size of garbage time minutes. He's 26 and I don't see an NBA player. Rather use the spot on someone else.
I think we are going to find ourselves quite pleased with Troy Brown Jr.
Yeah, I hope so. I think Wolves have plenty of good shooters. I know summer league shooting is lacking, but lets remember all our rotation players can shoot save Rudy.
2 things:

1. I said it before Summer league and it looks as true as it was then…Minot is not a wing. At most he is a 3/4.

2. The Wolves have guys that shoot solid percentages from 3 but they are missing some volume guys especially with Prince gone. Matt Ryan is a volume shooter and a guy that can fling it pretty much anytime he gets it. I’m not dying to keep him on the roster but a guy like him can be useful. If we are going to talk about summer league shooting percentages…in 2 years of summer leagues in 6 games he made over 50% of his attempts.

Brandon Williams…idk if I would give him a roster spot either. Here is what I like about him.

Lip has pointed this point he played one year of college got hurt and went ahead and went pro. He is 23 but there may be some potential there too as he took a bit of a different route to get to this point.

Idk how good he can be at the next level at either of these things but he looks like a guy that can play the PG position competently running a team and also make some plays with his quickness. In addition he looks like he is a guy that has a chance to actually give you some juice as a scorer. He looks like a guy that can get you a bucket in transition. Like Q said to some extent this team is lacking in guys that can beat guys off the dribble and get a bucket. As a deep bench option he might be handy to have around. Meanwhile the Wolves have no true PGs signed past this season. The opportunity is right there for legit minutes whether it’s as a starter or backup guard for this roster a season from now. If you play well there is a chance to get minutes even this season if there are some injuries. The Wolves have a roster spot open and last year they showed willingness to give the guy that deserved a spot in Garza. Signing an exhibit 10 deal and go to training camp might be something Williams would be willing to do to bet on himself. Are NBA teams still limited to just 20 guys on the roster for training camp with the 3rd 2-way?
