No one ever said you have to be smart to be a sportswriter. As Wolves fans we’re fortunate to one a terrific, smart sportswriter who covers the Wolves - Jon K. And their are certainly others. But then there are the dumb ones who come up with trade ideas like the following:
Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed that the Mavericks trade Christian Wood, Tim Hardaway Jr., Jaden Hardy and a 2027 unprotected first-round pick to the Timberwolves for Towns. This would be a sign-and-trade deal since Wood is an unrestricted free agent.
This deal makes absolutely no sense for the Wolves. I know TC experienced a moment of temporary insanity a year ago when he fell under Danny Ainge’s spell and made the deal for Rudy. But TC seems fully recovered now and even if he isn’t this is still a deal he’d never make.
Dumb Sportswriters
Re: Dumb Sportswriters
Lip I was gonna make a post explaining how this deal made sense as a joke…but I couldn’t follow through with it because it started to make even less sense the more I tried. Lol I don’t think even the worst of the Wolves GMs would even consider this deal.
I will mention that Hardy had a nice statistical rookie season and might be a bit of an underrated prospect at this point.

Sometimes people write stuff just to generate clicks and conversations. We do that here too. Towns will be a hot topic all year. Many assumed he was going to be traded by now (has that July deadline that people were worried about passed?). We'll all just have to get used to these types of stories. I'm still predicting nothing will happen until the trade deadline and only if the KAT/Rudy combo fails miserably.

You just described 90% of the internet. For some stupid reason that type of garbage always rises to the top.Carlos Danger wrote: ↑Sat Jul 15, 2023 9:10 am Sometimes people write stuff just to generate clicks and conversations.

I will also say that this trade is also impossible by league rules. You can’t add salary to a sign and trade so Hardaway and Hardy couldn’t be added in this hypothetical and the wood would need to make 28.8 million to make the money work (he is being reportedly only offered the min right now).
I just hate when reports can’t even get League rules right when it’s their job to talk about the nba
