I think if you look at OKC's roster of guards, there are three point guards that I assume OKC is keeping SGA, Micic who they just signed to a multiyear deal and Cason Wallace, the 10th pick this year presumably have secure spots. Also, Giddey can play point guard, but he starts at the other guard spot opposite SGA. Also, they have Dort and Isaiah Joe. So there are 6 guards that are probably locks. Then there is Aaron Wiggins, Oladipo, Tre Mann and TyTy fighting for probably two more spots. Dort and Wiggins can also play small forward.

I think OKC is about the worst place for TyTy to develop since he'd be fourth on the depth chart at point guard and OKC is loaded with draft picks in the coming years, so I think he's likely going to be a roster casualty. OKC might try to get him to take a two-way deal, but the Wolves could offer him a 15th spot or a two way deal with a much easier track to get in the rotation in the future.
I don't think he is eligible for a two-way at this point. For OKC at least. I would wager he is the more likely casualty over Mann.

They have oladipo, bertans (likely kept around for salary matching), poku, gusman, jack white, somebody else or two or three they just signed to a small guarantee deal, and TyTy all likely getting cut or moved for anything Presti can get his hands on. I wouldn't trade a 2nd for TyTy to secure him, but I would offer him the 15th slot on a very low deal with team options while telling him to come prove something, our future PG spot has openings.
Why wouldn’t TyTy be eligible for a 2-way? Now I don’t think TyTy is anything but tyty is eligible for a 2-way

I don't think OKC can convert him for themselves to a two-way from his currently signed deal. Now if cut, then he is for anybody else I believe.

TyTy has proven nothing, but he just was a late 1st pick last year. Has good size, athleticism, and worth a flyer in my opinion given our PG issue looming.

Gotcha! I understand what you are saying now, he can be put on a 2-way but Tyty would need to agree to it and the Thunder can’t do anything to stop him from going elsewhere

Ty Ty played in 5 G-League games last season. In 41 minutes per game, he averaged 29.8 points, 7.2 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 2.8 turnovers. It’s a small sample size, but impressive numbers. Kentucky guards tend to do well in the NBA. His NBA numbers last season were bad, but that was in only around 10 minutes per game. If OKC releases him, I think the Wolves should consider signing him as our 15th guy.

Those 5 games were his g-league playoff stats. He played in 18 other total G-league games. Going to the G-league’s player page you can select an option that combines regular season and showcase which is nice.

Thanks for the clarification, Monster.

I just looked up Ty Ty's regular season G-League stats. In 8 regular season games, he averaged an impressive 26.6 points per game, but was highly inefficient with a 40.5% FG percentage and 25.7% 3-point percentage. It took him 21.6 field goal attempts to score 26.6 points. That's pretty bad. However, I'm impressed by his average of 4.6 foul shots and 86.5% free-throw shooting. I'm even more impressed by his 7.6 assists, 7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

When you combine Ty Ty's 8 regular G-League season stats with his 5 playoff G-League stats, it still paints and intriguing picture of his potential. I'm not clamoring for the Wolves to sign him if the chance arises. But I'd definitely consider him.

That’s weird since it’s his best of the all the sections of G-league games last year in terms of efficiency.

Guess who else was playing on that roster? Jarrett Culver who averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds in the playoffs in less than 28mpg. He doesn’t turn 25 till next February.

The head coach of the Vipers is Kevin Burleson.

Stepping back and looking at all of Ty Ty’s stats leads the the same conclusion — i.e., he’s an intriguing young PG prospect but not someone to get particularly excited about.
