USA website has good box scores for USA games. The others i either watch the game or see on twitter. I don’t disagree with what you are saying on the injuries but they would be playing basketball anyways and they have a month before the season starts unlike the euros last yearQ-is-here wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 3:13 pmThanks for being our eyes and ears on these games Kek, as all I have done is watch a couple of highlights. And where do you even find the box scores? Seems like the FIBA website is kinda weak or not updated very often.
It's great to see Ant rise up as the clear alpha dog among his contemporaries on Team USA - it says a lot about his game and mentality. I also like that he's being coached by Steve Kerr, a guy who knows a thing or two about winning as both a player and coach and is probably more in touch with how to work with an emerging modern day superstar than Gregg Popovich.
My big concern heading into camp is a) we need to come in healthy - our three max guys are all playing alpha roles in FIBA, which is both exciting and risky; and b) the on court chemistry between Rudy and Ant (I don't care what they say in interviews).

The timberwolves are a feeder organization for World Cup basketball!! Here’s to growing and learning in those environments with out injuries! KAT is KAT, take the good with the bad. But ANT? Allstar is his floor this year. His ceiling could make us very interesting. Work your magic Coach Kerr!
Re: Fiba World championships
From an Athletic article about yesterday’s USA vs Germany game;
“He’s (Ant) unquestionably ‘the guy,’” coach Steve Kerr said. “I mean … he knows it, but now the team knows it and I think the fans see it. But we see it in practice every day. He genuinely believes he’s the best player in the gym every single night. And he’s such a dynamic young player, but I think he’s taking a leap.”
“If you think about USA basketball over the years, a lot of young players have taken a leap in these World Cup (and) Olympic competitions and it feels to me like Anthony is taking that leap,” Kerr said.

Good stuff from Kerr, thanks for sharing. And he's the second youngest player on the squad! Only Banchero is younger! Crazy.Sundog wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 6:02 am From an Athletic article about yesterday’s USA vs Germany game;

The other plus of Ant's Team USA experience which I just thought about is the relationships he's forming with other young (ish) stars/borderline stars as well as coaches. That could come in handy in a world where player and coach movement is very fluid and often times relationships can play a big part in where folks go as free agents (or in trade demands). My hope is that he's leaving a good impression on everyone (and it sounds like he is). [

So, you're saying that star players are going to be lining up to join Edwards in what's arguably the league's coldest cities for one of the league's most dismissed franchises... instead of the other way around?Q-is-here wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 10:12 am The other plus of Ant's Team USA experience which I just thought about is the relationships he's forming with other young (ish) stars/borderline stars as well as coaches. Not Tier I type stars, but yeah, all-star-ish/fringe all-stars/elite role players that don't have the NBA by the balls could certainly pick to play with Minnesota because of Ant.AbeVigodaLive wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 11:21 amSo, you're saying that star players are going to be lining up to join Edwards in what's arguably the league's coldest cities for one of the league's most dismissed franchises... instead of the other way around?Q-is-here wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 10:12 am The other plus of Ant's Team USA experience which I just thought about is the relationships he's forming with other young (ish) stars/borderline stars as well as coaches. I agree Cool. But a great season from KAT also makes us exceed expectations. His false humility and delusion is exhausting. We seem stuck with him for now, hope we all make the most of it.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 4:52 pmNot saying anyone will, but if a player was to ruin our season next year, it will be KAT

I’m not worried about KAT ruining the season for us. In spite of his annoying stupidity, his talent and production will make him a significant net positive as it always has in the past. The infuriating thing is how KAT’s lack if self-awareness and refusal to change his mindset prevent him from becoming the star Jokic-level player he should be given his talent and production.thedoper wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 12:35 pmI agree Cool. I’m almost done reading Tim Grover’s book, “Relentless.” It’s a good read. He lists three categories of really good players. The top category is what he calls “cleaners.” Grover puts MJ, Kobe, Dwayne Wade among others in that category. I’d include Jokic as well. Thankfully for the Wolves, it’s looking like Edwards might fit that category. KAT is the antithesis of players in that category. Cleaners don’t get ejected from games, especially international games, for multiple technicals. Cleaners get in what Grover calls “the zone” and lead their teams. They are unflappable. They don’t lose their cool, constantly whine, hang their heads or roll their eyes. If I ever run into KAT I’ll give him a copy of the book. Sadly, even if he reads it, I’m afraid the content won’t sink in.
