Portland, Milwaukee, Phoenix trade:
- Bucks: Damian Lillard
- Blazers: Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, 2029 first-round Bucks pick and Bucks pick swap
- Suns: Jusuf Nurkic, Nassir Little, Keon Johnson, Grayson Allen
Wow!
Dame trade
Re: Dame trade
A bit surprising! Ayton makes a lot of sense for Portland. I'm surprised by Jrue Holiday's inclusion. He doesn't make sense for a rebuilding team but he would have a lot of value for a playoff contending team. I'm wondering if he gets flipped soon. I'm also surprised that the Suns got so little for Ayton. It appears to be a partial salary dump. Makes me think we could have gotten Ayton rather than Gobert for one first round pick and salary filler had we pursued him rather than Gobert and his age matches up much closer to that of Ant and Jaden.
Re: Dame trade
Lots of chatter that Jrue might be flipped to the Heat
Re: Dame trade
So I haven’t read a ton yet. I personally don’t know if I any side (I want to see what the blazers get for Jrue)
Bucks: huge upside play but Jrue is so good also and he is so good at defense, Grayson Allen is a sneaky loss. They are projecting to start Dame and Malik Beasley, how are they stopping anyone. It might work out because Dame is a freak but I don’t love it.
Suns: hate it for the suns. I don’t love Ayton but he is significantly better than Nurkic. Worst defensive center in the NBA, he’s unplayable in the playoffs, little and Allen are solid ish adds but we will see, the west is so big and they have trash bigs, Drew Eubanks is probably their best big.
Blazers: got no upside player, Ayton has one of the worst contacts in the nba, only got 1 first (that could be good if Giannis leaves the bucks). They want to rebuild but a team of Jrue, Scoot, Simmons, Grant, Ayton is a sneaky solid team so I don’t think they can tank with that team. I want to see what they can get for Jrue.

Re: Dame trade
I wouldn't mind see us making a play for Jrue. Sounds like they will be moving him to a contender.
Re: Dame trade
Wow. Lillard gives the Bucks one of the elite offensive weapons in the NBA. He had an incredible year last year in the games he played. But Jrue is such a good two-way player. It will be interesting to see where he lands. PLEASE go back out east! Don't care if it's Miami, Boston, or whoever.

Re: Dame trade
I didn't realize Jrue is already 33. Rudy is younger than him. After finding that out, I don't think I'm interested in giving up what it would take to trade for Jrue. Conley is 2 1/2 years older than Jrue, but we don't have to give away assets to resign him and hopefully it will be at a huge reduction (well under $10M).
Re: Dame trade
Not sure yet, but I don’t think I like this trade for the Bucks. They pretty much emptied the cupboards of draft capital when the traded for Jrue, and this puts more pressure on attracting young cheap talent to play there since they can’t draft any. Course it might not be too hard to attract players to play with Giannis, Dame and Khris.
I hope and expect Giannis signed off on the trade. I think the Bucks got better on offense although Jrue was no slouch…. And they got worse on defense.
If it helps keep Giannis happy about staying, I guess it might be worth it. But it doesn’t feel like a slam dunk.

Actually, I don't think many alphas would want to play with Dame and Giannis as they are too high usage. That said, the NBA talent pool grows larger ever year and there are more and more guys willing to play on a minimum deal.Sundog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 6:18 pm Not sure yet, but I don’t think I like this trade for the Bucks.
